NYR - Biron & Asham Waived

Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN
#NYR Both Martin Biron and Arron Asham have indeed been placed on waivers

Systemfel 10-14-2013 11:16 AM

****ing Hertl. This will upset Biron's parents.

Flyerss 10-14-2013 11:16 AM

i could see the Pens claiming Biron

nc 10-14-2013 11:16 AM

I wonder if the oilers will put in a claim?

JS19 10-14-2013 11:17 AM

I'm disappointed, not even a single reference to Don Cherry's "Hertl embarrassed Biron."

Though, Cherry going to see Biron being waived as legitimizing his argument.

ManofSteel55 10-14-2013 11:17 AM

Has Asham been that bad? In the past he has been a good 4th liner, has he regressed?

BigDaddyLurch 10-14-2013 11:17 AM

Edmonton Alert...Edmonton Alert...

Draiskull 10-14-2013 11:17 AM

I would be surprised. We're at 49 contracts, I don't think MacT is willing to go to 50 so early.

Killem Dafoe 10-14-2013 11:18 AM

I guess Talbot is up.

They'd have to move a player to clear cap space.

Would it be cheaper to get Biron over signing Bryzgalov? I was thinking getting Biron for EDM sounded good.

Daley Tarasenkshow 10-14-2013 11:23 AM

Biron was terrible in his game against the blues.

ManofSteel55 10-14-2013 11:26 AM

Biron isn`t an upgrade on Dubnyk, why would the Oilers claim him?

Cam Talbot it appears would get the call.

SabresFan26 10-14-2013 11:32 AM

Biron's older and his starting days are behind him

SI90 10-14-2013 11:38 AM

WTF is going on with the NYR's? IS it AV's system?

No isn't Vokoun on injured reserves and Zatkoff on a 2-way?

janecky 10-14-2013 11:41 AM

How charming to scapegoat the backup goalie when the team stinks. If all backup goalies were waived after one bad game, there would be few backup goalies left. At least the starter is playing great. :sarcasm:

I guess it's a cap move to open space for upcoming moves.

Biron should never have turned down the long-term contract he was offered by Philadelphia way back when...

Sparksrus3 10-14-2013 11:42 AM

Really liked the czerkawski for asham trade for NYI way back . He used to beat up barnaby and the likes with regularity. Somewhere in his travels he started congratulating his opponent on the battle after every encounter. Also his battles went much shorter. He used to not give up so easily. When he was a NYI I truly believed he hated his opponent. ( even if he did not). The last few years not so much. Jmo on this once great middleweight battler. After Montreal he only plays for the old Atlantic division teams and since he has played for them all I will guess he goes back to the devils.

Pheasant the peasant 10-14-2013 11:42 AM

For a long time Biron was a borderline starter. Then, for the past few years he has been a top notch backup. But, as of right now, he is an average-to-poor backup.

He could still be claimed, i guess, but I don't see too many teams that could really use him.

Is New York just going with Henrik for the rest of the season?

Pax Macioretty 10-14-2013 11:45 AM

Rangers making a claim for the softest team in the history of hockey..
