Wearing an ankle brace hurt skating?
I got checked from behind last game and twisted my ankle pretty bad... I'm playing tonight and the trainer wants me to wear this neoprene ankle brace... I've always skated barefoot so I'm worried about a brace affecting my skating and/or giving me blisters from digging into the bottom of my foot? Anyone ever skate with a brace or anything? Did you even notice? Should I just tough out the pain and play without a brace or should I brace it up... right now my ankle is like twice the size of my other one.

I skate with an ankle compression brace on my left foot due to a serious ankle injury. If the brace is thin and fitted properly, you wont notice a difference, at least i didnt

twice the size....! I snapped a ligament and took at least a week off. I'm not a dr or a trainer but trust your body.

I have to tape every time I skate and I love the support. clearly if it feels weird it could affect your skating. you might get a blister if it rubs. why don't you try it out before the game or practice and work with the trainer if it's no good.

Check out the canvas lace-up ankle brace type. I've had a couple ankle injuries and this is the only thing that worked well for me. Really good support and fit in my skate pretty well.

The one I have is the MCDAVID Level 3 Ankle Brace / lace-up w/ stays
