What is your breaking point as a fan?

Since the cup drive the oilers have been the worst team in the NHL and one of the worst pro teams on the planet. Since then, we have sucked and things are getting frustrating to say the least. I am not going to give you the stat, not going to waste your time with the list of coaches and bad players and GMS who could do nothing

Do you have a breaking point and is so what is it?

Soundwave 10-30-2013 03:29 AM

This is pretty much it, lol, to not make the playoffs is one thing, but to be out of the running seemingly before Halloween is just incredibly depressing. At least dangle that carrot in front of the fans and give them hope until US Thanksgiving at a minimum.

But at this point it's like a train wreck you can't turn away from.

CanadianSuperPromise 10-30-2013 03:30 AM

My breaking point is when we fail to draft McDavid.

goggog 10-30-2013 03:32 AM

The worst thing for me is trying to think of the future and envision winning. Nope.
Then I try to think of the past and all the winning i've got to experience. Nope.
(I'm in my low 20's).

Hockey Nightmare 10-30-2013 03:40 AM

I don't know how anyone could start cheering for other teams. Maybe distance yourself from this team, but no ****ing way do I start putting on a flames or canucks or habs jersey.

oilersfan11 10-30-2013 03:42 AM

I'm wearing a Flames Jersey this exact moment.;)

M Ace 10-30-2013 03:47 AM

It is a poor excuse of a hockey team these days!

The Human Torch 10-30-2013 03:51 AM

I'll never switch allegiances to another team, but I sure as hell don't give a flying **** about this bunch of losers for now.

Nice thread jts. Not like we didn't have enough navel gazing going on here.
There is no breaking point. People are exaggerating the situation.
If the Oilers win the SC or draft first overall it has no impact on our well-being. None. Its just better or worse entertainment.
I watch the Oilers because I love hockey and it provides entertainment. Obviously we can see by the number of posts that even *****ing about the team after a loss is a form of entertainment to some (most?) people who post here.
I enjoy most games. Sometimes I get disgusted but I always watch if I can wrangle the free time.
I'll never stop watching no matter what. But I won't cry like a baby, nor consider myself cheated if we never win another SC in my lifetime.

AlowlyMcOilersfan 10-30-2013 04:25 AM

My glass is half full right now, albeit of fecal matter.

:naughty:

thadd 10-30-2013 04:30 AM

My true breaking point will be if we hold onto our 1st rounder and use it to draft another finesse forward.

But I've been trying hard to cheer for the Jets this year. Just can't bring myself to do it.

Gone 10-30-2013 04:44 AM

It's really time to stop going to games. If we leave the building empty, that sends a pretty strong message.

Sheikyerbouti 10-30-2013 04:44 AM

My breaking point was when they hired MacT. It showed that things won't get better until Lowe is gone and resumes matter.

The Nuge 10-30-2013 04:48 AM

I'll never switch teams, but all this losing and me being in Phoenix lots has me cheering for the Coyotes as well (and the fact Doan's always been my favorite player)

Oh you mean THAT breaking point? I've wanted K-Lowe out of Edmonton since that season that we had Nilson, Cogliano and Gagner playing in their rookie seasons.

Burger Baron 10-30-2013 05:42 AM

I live with a die-hard Habs fan and die-hard Leafs fan.

It's starting to get much easier to cheer with them for their teams, than it is to piss and moan at the TV during the Oil games.

Having said that, Oil will always be #1. Boy does that suck.

Same for me.

I can handle a placeholder GM who isn't good at his job who might one day be replaced by someone better(Tambo).

But I can't handle recycled buddies who helped create the mess in the first place, buddies who will enjoy immunity to accountability due to a fanboy owner and rampant cronyism.

this is pretty much it for me too! we've been given promises of this team improving for a couple of years now only to witness the same old. how does old 6 rings keep his job? :shakehead

not empty, but I have a feeling that if this **** show continues, the sell out streak may end when a less desirable team like Columbus comes to town. fans are pretty mad, like the guy on another board who ranted about working 15 hour days to pay for an expensive ticket to watch this crap....

YEGman 10-30-2013 10:27 AM

I've held Seasons Tickets since 1995 and enjoyed my father's before that from the WHA including riding the buses to Calgary in 1973 to watch the special play-off game against the Minnesota Fighting Saints.

As I approach my 60s, I can no longer justify the expense after this year in all likelihood particularly as I see nothing to indicate that the value of the product will come anywhere near what I anticipate to be the increased expense in the new Arena.

This year is the breaking point.

Al Cappuccino 10-30-2013 10:29 AM

you know what... I'm still a fan and will always be a fan. It's frustrating but I still care about this team

hmminvisiblecola1279 10-30-2013 10:37 AM

When I have to read the same garbage over and over again, the stats say we are better, we don't support the team enough etc. What I find particularly fascinating is the organization utilizing a politicians reasoning, the people are to blame.

Crabapple 10-30-2013 10:38 AM

I wanna say by the end of this year if nothing happens then I'll stop watching games. But who knows?

Stop watching then? If it brings you so much pain then just turn it off.
