Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren gave a further injury update with regards to center Vincent Lecavalier and right wing Steve Downie.

"Steve is doing better, he remains in the hospital and will be released tomorrow," said Holmgren.

Downie is listed as out indefinitely with concussion.

Holmgren added that Lecavalier is day-to-day with a facial contusion.

Lecavalier currently leads the Flyers in goals (5) and points (7) in nine games this season. He missed three games (Oct. 12-17) due to a lower-body injury.

at this point if the flyers team bus spontaneously combusts and the entire team is turned into giant flying squirrels i wouldn't be surprised.

StandingCow 11-01-2013 09:05 PM

Could this game have been any worse?

Flyerfan4life 11-01-2013 09:06 PM

well, hartnell didn't fall down that much... it's a start

bennysflyers16 11-01-2013 09:10 PM

So we got smoked on the scoreboard, then tried to goon it up and 2 of our top line players got their faces caved in by players on team that blew us out.

That there is the definition of EPIC FAIL.

StupidityKills 11-01-2013 09:30 PM

Surprised Emery didn't hurt his hand!

MRxBLACK 11-01-2013 09:34 PM

Enter the Rosehill.

Flyers are escorting me out of the building as I am trying to figure out which player they are taking to the hospital on a stretcher.

Frank Seravalli ‏@DNFlyers 3m

Being completely stonewalled by Flyers. Do not know which player was taken to the hospital.

-----

WTF? You have to figure it's Downie or Vinny, right?

Flyers845 11-01-2013 09:46 PM

The team is in a nosedive

MiamiScreamingEagles 11-01-2013 09:46 PM

It was Downie sent to the hospital.

Fight in the dressing room maybe ? Don't need a stretcher for a concussion I would think ?

Homer says Downie rushed to hospital.

Psuhockey 11-01-2013 09:54 PM

my guess is he broke bones in his eye socket. That was a direct hit.

That scares me.

A lot. I hope he is ok, rushed to hospital an hour and a half after he left the game with a concussion?

Hopefully it is something innocent, like him or the team wanted to make sure, or had pain in face, or ambulance waiting until end of game, or doing extra tests in locker. (not head pain or blackout.)

SgtJoseph 11-01-2013 10:11 PM

Really hate it for Downie..........He almost scored 10 secs into the game, now is in the hospital after a 7 - 0 blow out...........The bad luck continues for our club every where we turn ! Need to work harder and smarter to break the spell we seem to be under .

4thline4life 11-01-2013 10:13 PM

Great job fighting in a lost game.

bennysflyers16 11-01-2013 10:13 PM

Hearing zero about Vinny other than out, how bad is his injury as Downie prob out min two weeks ?

FreshPerspective 11-01-2013 10:14 PM

This team has bad mojo...contrary to Snider's thinking...this team needs a serious FRESH PERSPECTIVE! Holmgren needs to leave before more damage and bad luck is incurred...

You definitely don't see most teams losing 2 top line players to fighting injuries in same game. Mind you , we are smarter than those teams

He was sticking up for his new teammate, can hardly fault him for trying to do something. The guy was on the first place team the other day.

Apparently looney old man left in disgust during second period, if this wasn't Holmers last game he has unlimited immunity.

henchman24 11-01-2013 10:18 PM

Avs fan here... Hope Downie is okay. Always scary when a player is sent to the hospital. Hopefully Vinny recovers quickly as well.

Pure 11-01-2013 10:20 PM

Avs fan here, hoping Downie is okay and comes back from this soon.

FreshPerspective 11-01-2013 10:21 PM

You gotta wonder if the players didn't like Talbot being traded..kind of like the way the team responded when they traded Upshall to send a message. Now Downie could be lost for a good amount of time....it's just one debacle after another. Moreover, Downie had no business with that fight....shows you how being a loose canon can come back to bite you. One thing for sure..Talbot was not stupid like that. Probably why Roy made the trade...didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of trying to rein him in like Tocchet said is occasionally needed.
