Barkov and Hubredeau

Do you think that Barkov and Huby can get to that next level next year, being a legit top line, star caliber player or do you think they are still an extra year away?

Gudbranson44 11-05-2013 10:17 AM

they're only 18 and 20 years old, so IDK I believe they need to be surrounded by great players for a while before they become our go to guys

Is "Hubredeau" the uber-Canadian way of spelling his name? ;)

lol, sorry guys with the spelling.

if they can get a 3rd legit top liner that's physical and gets infront of the net (since huberdeau for some reason seem to have shyed away from it), works hard in the corners and can snipe the puck like a boss, then yeah

I think Huberdeau is just off his game at the moment. Second year slump I guess, wouldnīt be too worried about him. Also Iīd think when he gets going him and Barkov are going to have more chemistry. Itīs not like they have played that much together anyway.

hockeydude1 11-05-2013 01:49 PM

Eventually, yes. Prime time is between 23-27 years old. So we have some years ahead to wait lol.

If Hubs is a true Super-duper star, he should be a point-per-game player next year. I think he can be that player; we have seen evidence of dominant skill, puck possession and vision. Hubs is a scorer, and better yet, hes a playmaker, so next year I really expect him to produce no matter who his linemates are; he should be making them better players, not the other way around.

Barkov is just sooooooo damn young, but again I think its quite clear he has skills and abilities that are at the highest level. Projecting points on him is tricky, but he should be a legit no.2 centre next year.

If both of those things happen, this Franchise will actually be able to move forward.

Maybe Shea Weber gave him one to many cross checks

Thanks guys just wondering if they were in the same class of prospect as John Tavares and Steven Stamkos when they both solidified themselves in this league as bona-fide stars at 19/20 years old.

FrolikFan67 11-06-2013 03:33 AM

well i don't expect either of them to be THAT good, but if both become 65+pt players id be more than happy with that. my only worry on the two of them is i question they're goal scoring ability but hopefully in time they become more dangerous. if they both are 25g-40a type players id be more than happy.

Both have histories of being Playmakers more than Goal-scorers.

If that's all Huby and Barkov become I'll be very dissapointed.

AaronEkbald 11-06-2013 10:10 AM

Not to make excuses, but the reality is they're surrounded by the leftover crap from the summer when Tallon went on a UFA shopping spree. IMO, Huberdeau doesn't look like he did last season. Barkov is adjusting pretty well, he still needs to bring that speed up, but it'll come. He's got great skills. Huberdeau needs to find the damn magic he had last season and find it fast.

Yeah, because we have had two 65+ point scorers on this team often :shakehead

I'm sorry but if you think very good second line to fringe first line production is acceptable for a 3rd overall and 2nd overall you should give your head a shake. I don't care how many we've had. These kids have potential to be stars in the league. These 2 can be game breakers not Stephen Weiss.

EnforceTheLaus 11-06-2013 11:54 AM

Thornton and Marleau. They could very easily become that.
