News on Nick Boynton

heres a tidbit of info on Nick Boynton.

Boynton not for trade
TheFourthPeriod.com

In the middle of long and tedious contract negotiations, there usually tends to be a trade rumor or two. In the case of Boston holdout Nick Boynton, trade speculation is well underway.

Published reports suggest the Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in bringing in the 24-year-old defenseman to town in exchange for forward Darcy Tucker. But Bruins GM Mike O’Connell made it very clear that Boynton either rejoins the B’s or doesn’t play.

“We’re not going to trade him,” O’Connell told the Boston Herald.

The Bruins have offered Boynton a two-year deal worth about $3 million, however the defenseman the Nobleton, Ont., native seeking something closer to $4 million.

“He just has to decide whether he wants to play here,” said O'Connell. “It’s up to him, because he isn’t going anywhere.”

once again leafs fans are tryin to dump Darcy Tucker, also it looks like we can stop with the Comrie for Boynton props.

What do Leafs fans have to do with anything in this article?

This was the article http://www2.bostonherald.com/sport/b...nt09282003.htm

That the fourth period got their 'source' from.

But B's GM Mike O'Connell made it very clear that Boynton's case will not end the same way. There has been speculation in Toronto the Maple Leafs would love to get hometown kid Boynton, perhaps in exchange for pesky center Darcy Tucker. But O'Connell said Boynton either rejoins the B's or doesn't play.
That was the quote in question, and the 'published reports' talked about.

so once again, what do Leafs fans have to do with any of this? Or are you just trying to stir the **** a little? Maybe you can't read...

The perception i got form this article was that toronto wanted the deal and boston never. which is kind of givin away by...

"toronto would love the hometown boy"

and

“We’re not going to trade him,” O’Connell told the Boston Herald.

so don't say i can't read. but it looks to me like this is a deal that toronto wanted, not boston.

Yes Indeed. But it still has nothing to do with Leafs Fans Wanting to dump Tucker.

Regardless, anyone can see that Tucker for Boynton is a steal for the Buds, so it isn't exactly a 'dump' is it?

Well maybe he should have you don't read very well or that you take things out of context pretty good. This is what was really said..

Now maybe its because I don't look for reasons to cut up the Leafs but that certainly doesn't sound like something definitive. But you are right, Toronto would love to have him on the team, probably though, also many other teams as well.

let's just agree to disagree.

MVP 09-29-2003 01:02 PM

Actually facts from this report shows both sides are pretty close, maybe a one year 1.75 millions $ can be worked out.

Takeo 09-29-2003 07:43 PM

A trade is definetly still possible. O'Connell is using the play or sit threat as leverage in negotiations.

Herby 09-30-2003 12:56 AM

O'Connell also said he wouldn't trade Allison and Carter.

We'll see, but getting Comrie would be big for the Bruins, their center depth is awful beyond Joey T.

You mean other than that Brian Rolston guy who's been right around 60 points for the last three seasons?
