Johnson probably Wild's pick

It would be surprising if the Minnesota Wild, with the No. 4 overall pick in the National Hockey League draft Saturday in Ottawa, don't choose Jack Johnson of Faribault, Minn.

Johnson, an extremely aggressive 6-foot, 197-pound defenseman who has committed to the University of Michigan, played for Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault before joining the U.S. National Development program.
of course, he has to be there when we draft...

bet the farm on JJ going number 2 to Anaheim

he is just the type of player--D_MAN that Burke gets all lovey dovey with

PuckFan01 07-24-2005 10:04 AM

Shooter is an idiot.

Dougie93 07-24-2005 10:08 AM

Of course the Wild would pick Johnson if he was available even though defense isn't where we need help the most, but there's no way he'll be there when the #4 pick comes up.
Shooter's just out of touch when it comes to hockey. Last week or the week before that we was pointing out players who should be high draft picks who have Minnesota ties and leaves out the fact that the most anticipated draftee in over a decade also played in Minnesota. :dunno: Maybe he doesn't see Crosby going hgh in the draft. :biglaugh:

Too bad Johnson won't be there.

ktaylor57 07-24-2005 04:51 PM

Yea, Johnson'll be gone. If Anaheim doesn't take him (stupid move), the Canes sure will.

Sometimes these guys just can't get past the local connection. If they would take into account who was picking before the Wild, they would know that he would not be there. Not that he's a bad player but no way is he there at #4. ZERO chance.

Wild Bill 07-24-2005 06:10 PM

"pssst" ...maybe a "little birdie" told him a trade is in the works.... :D

DW 07-24-2005 06:33 PM

As long as there is no "close personal friend" involved with such a trade.

tk421 07-25-2005 11:53 AM

I heard they would be taking Crosby. :biglaugh:

DW 07-25-2005 01:45 PM

Should we start several hundred rumors about him so maybe somebody will have a brain fart? They'd have to be juicy ones though, even then someone might take a chance on the kid. ;) :)

thestonedkoala 07-26-2005 05:07 PM

Crap...he might be on to something now that Jack Johnson might not be taken 2nd overall...

DW 07-26-2005 05:56 PM

I won't complain if he was there at #4. I just don't see anyone moving up to the #2 spot and not take Johnson. Even if that somehow happens, wouldn't you think that CAR would have a serious time passing him buy? I'm thinking that if someone moves up to the #2 pick and they don't pick JJ, then that guy will be Pouliot.

It's still going to come down to the 3 guys-Kopitar, Brule, Ryan.
