Need a lot more from EDM, I want one of the big 4. Weber is locked in on a contract that will keep him with a team almost to the end of his career.

veedubn1 11-16-2013 01:42 PM

Not only do they not need Shultz (he's on Nashville's bottom pairing if not in the AHL) but the conversation needs to include Hall + RNH if Weber is going to Edmonton.

Interesting perspective given that Eberle's one of 3 Oilers recently signed for 6M per year (as well as Hall and RNH). What is it about Eberle that doesn't compute as part of the "big 4" (whatever that is).

Nashville needs a goal scoring center most of all. And yes Eberle does tend to get lost in the mix but the fact is this; Edm needs grit and defense, NSH has too much of it. NSH needs scoring, EDM has a lot. Most of all NSH needs a top line center.

Would Gagner be in play?

Gagner could be in the mix. If we swapped Gagner in instead of J. Schultz, would that get us closer? That's two top six forwards (both who can play top line, one a legitimate top liner), and our 1st round pick this year.

I'm guessing that this couldn't be done until the summer, wouldn't Nashville need to clear more cap space?

Vatican Roulette 11-16-2013 03:15 PM

Not a fan of either...

What about:

Josi, Fisher

For

Eberle, Petry

I figure picks could be involved, but didn't want to nitpick.

I guess if it would be completed/ fans liked it, Klein could be moved for someone, maybe Grabner.

Isles get a top 4, Preds get a top 6.

Isles then bring up Strome, cause he's ready. Idk if Grabner for Klein is fair value, but at least as a base it didn't seem insulting.

Gagner has a no trade clause that kicks in next year and MacTavish promised him he wouldn't move him before it kicks into effect, so at the very least MacT should approach him to get the greenlight for a trade. Personally I'm comfortable with trading Gagner if it gets us Weber back.

Prongo 11-16-2013 03:55 PM

I have said this before, does Edmonton think they are a Shea Weber away from making the playoffs? I don't think so, so why would they trade for him right now? It doesn't make any sense.

Oilers would need to I think start with Hall, add the 2014 first and either Schultz and or Klefbom

Wizeman* 11-16-2013 03:56 PM

I think Gagner , Eberle and the 2014 first is the closest I have seen in terms of a realistic trade proposal for Weber. I trade out the 2014 for Klefbom.

If I was the Oilers I would go ahead and do this one.

Gagner , Eberle and Klefbom for Weber .

Well crafted deal. If Nashville has a small cap dump to put in, that might round it out.

Because if the best dman in the league is available, you jump on it

Hard to say but Shea could make a huge difference, we clearly aren't going to make the playoffs this year considering the hole we dug for ourselves; but Weber playing 25+mins a night would make us much better. Weber is signed for long enough that we can build around him, we just want to start getting ourselves moving in the right direction.

oilers4life5 11-16-2013 04:04 PM

Gagner, 2014 first, Petry/Klefbom and Arcobello/Hemsky

Any bites or does it have to be one of the kids in it?

If i am NSH I am wanting that 1st more than Klefbom.

With the 1st possibly being in the top 3 and NSH w/o Rinne they could really load up on some young potential possibly walking out of the draft with

Nylander and Reinhart.

that Would definitely give us a defenseman to build around. Gagner and Eberle would make the top 2 lines in Nashville immediately better. This trade would give the Oilers the chance to hang on to their 1st rd pick and either draft a player in the top five, or use the pick to fix another glaring hole. And Arcobello plays a smart game and has developed chemistry with other forwards in the Oilers line up, and he wins faceoffs, so he could fill the second line center role quite nicely.

For once I agree with a Canucks fan lol

Hall-RNH-XXX
Perron-Arco-Hemsky

there would be a hole made by Eberle going, but the 1st rounder could help address that

Prongo 11-16-2013 04:07 PM

Anyways, If I am Nashville, I am asking for RNH+1st+more. Not Eberle or Hall. They need a franchise center who can be there man for 10 years. Wingers just are not as valued as centers.

Has to be around Nuge or Hall.

Trafalgar Law 11-16-2013 04:12 PM

Nashville fans what do you prefer?

Eberle+J Schultz+2014 1st
Eberle+Klefbom+2014 1st
Eberle+Gagner+Klefbom

crowi 11-16-2013 04:16 PM

Not even close for NSH.

I'm not going to say I wouldn't be willing to part with one of Nuge or Hall in a trade for Weber, but these are two key pieces we are building around and we really don't want to part with them, if we are giving up one of them in a trade for Weber it will have a lot less sweeteners on it then if you wanted to take Eberle or Yakupov instead.

3 Weber deals:
  • Weber for Hall + Marincin
  • Weber for Nuge + Klefbom
  • Weber + Gaustad (mostly cap reasons) for Eberle or Yakupov + Gagner + 2014 1st round pick + 1 additional conditional 1st round pick if we make the playoffs anytime in the next 3 years.

shogun99 11-16-2013 04:44 PM

Weber to the Oilers would be a pipe dream. Not only would he make our defence respectable, he'd also be a great mentor for any young defenceman coming up.

veedubn1 11-16-2013 04:56 PM

I'd be comfortable offering up JVR or Lupul + Kadri + 1st rounder for big Shea as a Leafs fan.

Two players who can play on the Preds' top line (Kadri is a center and both JVR and Lupul are on very team friendly deals) plus a first to help with the prospect pool.

Leafs take a massive hit offensively to but upgrade their defensive significantly. Preds upgrade their offense significantly today and in the future while remaining solid defensively.

Paralyzer008 11-16-2013 05:12 PM

Realistically, I think NSH isn't going to get what they think for Weber. Which means they probably won't deal him.

I'd think EDM's best offer would be Eberle, Gagner, Schultz/Nurse/Klefbom, 1st in 2014
