Top 6 Forward to Vancouver

I know this may seem reactionary, but they really need someone who can shoot the puck at a high level. Are there any teams willing to trade a top 6 scorer right now, and what would it take?

Wizeman* 11-17-2013 09:50 PM

Keep all the players I love, knee jerk react trade all the players I hate and thinks are the goats for why we lost tonight.

Cammalleri for Booth, Kassian/Jensen + 2nd/1st. Doubt the Flames would take on Booth, without Kassian coming back.

What about Jensen and Schroeder. Kassian is pretty much untouchable.

We would absolutely bury Booth in the minors or buy him out before we moved Kassian. Especially to a division rival.

Judging from what I've seen of the Canucks you guys could use a really good playmaking winger/center for Kesler more than a sniper.

The only ones I could see being moved now are Cammy, Fleischman, Moulson, or potentially Seto (for the right return). Edmonton has Hemsky, but I can't see HF fans really putting any value on him. Otherwise I think a lot of teams will wait until later in the season to see how things are going.

Don't have any interest in Schroeder, Jensen is a nice piece. Cammy's value is high right now and Booth's contract would obviously have to be coming back, which I really don't like. These are the only deals I could come up with to make it work....
1) Booth, Kassian + 2nd
2) Booth, Jensen + 1st
3) Booth, Jensen, Tanev + 3rd

How about no

Vankiller Whale 11-17-2013 10:23 PM

Vanek or Gaborik would be at the top of my wish list. Unfortunately Gaborik is injured and the Islander will likely wait at least until the deadline before they flip Vanek to recoup their losses.

1) Booth, Kassian + 2nd Nope, take out Kassian and add a third.
2) Booth, Jensen + 1st Nope, make the first a third.
3) Booth, Jensen, Tanev + 3rd No Frigging way!

We wouldn't be giving away Tanev for a rental.

That is huge overpayment for half a season of Cammalleri

No to all of those, especially the last one.

Got a better expiring contract or cap dump, than Booth?

Action 11-17-2013 10:58 PM

Problem here is most teams either are:
a) in need of scoring themselves
b) content with what they have and not looking to deal

The dilemma for Vancouver is that we have a lack of available assets on the roster and it's not in the greatest interests to start dealing picks and prospects for a short term fix (Gaborik, Vanek, Moulson, Cammy, etc.)

IMO, stick it out with what we have until January-February. The team's obviously snake-bitten right now and it's just a matter of time. Chances are there but the finish and timing is off. If the problem still persists, we should look at making a long-term hockey trade to address the scoring, even if that means giving up a Tanev, Hansen, Burrows, etc.

If you think the Flames are going to spend to the cap and be a playoff team next year, then there is no trade to be made.
If you think the Flames are going to take at least one more year of re-tooling/rebuilding then Booth's contract isn't nearly as bad as you think it is. He's signed for only one more season.

Anywho, the Canucks aren't going to move Kassian for an upcoming UFA, and there is zero chance we move Jensen (a former 1st and one of our top prospects) AND a 1st for an upcoming UFA.

Vankiller Whale 11-17-2013 11:06 PM

For Cammalleri I'd offer any one of Jensen/Gaunce/1st + either a 2nd or B-prospect. Any more than that and I'd rather just go after a better player.

mstad101 11-17-2013 11:12 PM

Matt Moulson for 1st and whatever contract we need to shed to fit him.
Put Kesler back as second line centre and acquire a high percentage shooter like Moulson who is a great net front presence. Allows Kesler to man a 2nd PP unit when we need it and give Vancouver some true secondary scoring

Canucks don't need another overpaid, underperforming 3rd liner.

This has been a need for what, 6 years now?

Gillis wont make a move.

Gillis will have 5m+ in cap space to work with at the deadline.
