Vancouver-Edmonton

To Edmonton:

Bo Horvat
Chris Tanev

To Vancouver:

Nail Yakupov

Edmonton gets a blue chip two-way centre prospect and a young, mobile, reliable top-4 defenseman with decent offensive vision in exchange for a winger who could use a change of scenery.

Vancouver gets a dynamic offensive talent who could help shake things up on the power play now and eventually take over from the Sedins as a top-line player. Tanev and Horvat could be replaced internally by Corrado and Gaunce.

An alternate proposal might be something around Gaunce + Kassian + Tanev for Yakupov as well.

No thanks.

Rather move older players. Edler and Burrows for Yak.

Subby Dubby Doooo 11-18-2013 06:31 AM

Lol. That doesn't get u yak. Put things into perspective. Horvat could become a Bergeron lite. Tanev is a decent top 4 D. Yak has pavel bure + potential.

Kesler

for

Klefbom
Pitlick

I imagine we'll see the same brutal offers as in the E.Kane thread. This should be fun.

Let me guess...

Corrado + Gaunce + 1st
Horvat + Schroeder
Kassian + Tanev

Nail will never go to a divisional opponent anyways.

Lord Flacko* 11-18-2013 06:38 AM

No thanks from a Canucks POV. Edmonton would probably want more anyways.

You think this is a brutal offer? What did you expect Edler+Horvat?

Kesler is a lot more proven than Yakupov, Tanev is a lot more proven than Pitlick, and I think the majority of people would take Horvat over Klefbom as well.

If Kesler were a 20 yr old on pace for 12 goals, and you replaced Pitlick with say, Justin Schultz, then you might be close valuewise, although we'd need to have a surplus of centremen and a gaping need for defensemen for it to make sense for us.

I would think that pieces like Horvat or Tanev would be appealing to the Oilers given where they're at right now, but what else might be of interest?

The Schneider trade should still be fresh in your head...divisional opponents will have to overpay. I don't care much for Tanev who still needs to prove his worth, and Horvat will be a good 3C someday with 2C upside.

First off, it was a joke offer. Of course he's more proven, he's 29 years old. At age 20 Kesler was on pace for 6 goals.....in the AHL. It's like the stock exchange, sell high and buy low. Nail isn't going anywhere, especially with his value being at its lowest right now.

Edit: If you get ONE Oiler fan to accept your deal, I'd be completely and utterly shocked.

Fair enough, and when Kesler was 20 we might not have even been able to get a 1st round pick for him.

I realize Yakupov's value is low right now, but if he's not being used in situations that might raise his value, then it might make sense to deal him to fill other areas of need on your roster.

I highly doubt that you'd be willing to "sell high" on someone like Taylor Hall precisely because he's doing so well at the moment.

But if Yakupov's performance continues to stagnate in the role he's given, then it might make sense to move him sooner rather than later.

488McFitter 11-18-2013 07:09 AM

^ What I'm trying to get at, is you don't sell off players with Nail's resume and pedigree because he has struggled for 20 games. He led our team in scoring last year as a rookie. That itself earns him plenty of time to figure his game out. Management simply won't trade him anytime soon, unless it's a slamdunk offer....which I don't believe yours to be.

Is this a wind up? There is nobody like Bure and there likely won't be for a very long time. Let alone Bure+

Kulleroinen* 11-18-2013 07:30 AM

Umm, no thanks.

Vankiller Whale 11-18-2013 07:41 AM

Would adding Kassian on top be enough to get Edmonton interested?

So because yak is on a sophomore slump, his value suddenly drops tremendously and the oilers are in desperation to trade him. People forget what people thought of this player coming out of junior. There were rumors Montreal would trade PK + the 3rd to get him. I do believe this guy can score 50 goals in this league. U guys judge from only the present and forget about the past. The guy was scoring tons of goals at the end of last year. A guy with the potential to be a 2nd line center and a top 4 d does not get you anywhere close to yak.

Brutal for Vancouver

Let's put things in perspective indeed! While I agree that Horvat ad Tanev doesn't get you Yakupov, the thing that needs to be put in perspective the most is that Yakupov does not have the potential to be Bure+ and if the Oilers could get someone like Bergeron for Yakupov they would do it in the blink of an eye.

I am being charitable to poster "rhotter" here and assuming he didn't actually mean what he said, but his post strikes me as typical trades board "revenge stupidity" antics.

Ie. "I disagree with what you said so strongly, I'd rather turn the tables and force you to react to even more outrageous stupidity than respond with something reasonable"

Then again maybe he does think that Yakupov has [top 10 goal scorer of all time] "+" potential.

I mean, when he turned 20 Nail had more career goals than Bure did at the same age..

Former 1st overall for 9th overall in recent draft year + tanev.

Tanev doesnt move you up in the draft that much.

Yak>>Horvat.

blankall 11-18-2013 09:35 AM

Not enough from Vancouver. Doesn't satisfy a single need for Edmonton. Why would Edmonton want players less further ahead in their development.

This isn't even remotely reasonable.

This.

Yak's value is weird right now. If the Oilers were smart, they wouldn't trade him right now.
