I hope he gets claimed just to open up a roster spot.

Jimmi Jenkins 11-18-2013 11:14 AM

Not surprising in the least.

OilerTyler 11-18-2013 11:15 AM

Most of us knew this was a brutal signing from the start.

If he doesn't that means LB and Bunz will both be stuck in the ECHL. I don't mind one guy playing there but being an ECHL backup is a huge hit to someone's confidence.

Kind of a shame it didn't work out, seems like a real nice guy. Played awful though, and that CM punk mask :help:

Then send Labarbera down to be an ECHL backup. Problem solved ;)

LB can't go to the AHL if I remember correctly. Thought guys on one way deals can't go to the AHL unless they agree to it.

Exactly. The funny part is the Oil Change cockiness MacT has on his coup of signing Labarbera, reminded me of Tambo and Belanger.

He seems like a good person and a fine "rah rah go get em guys" type of player, but good. He lets in way too many long shots and the team needs a better plan B than him.

It sure would be great if someone that is down a goalie grabbed him for insurance. We could use the contract spot.

that sums it up.
hopefully Dubnyk will try harder now that his buddy is gone and there is a chance he can lose his job.

I also hope someone picks him up, but I doubt there will be any takers.

Khabby and Nabokov both went down with groin injuries this weekend. Nashville is still unsure about Rinne's timeline, so there's a chance one of those three teams will grab him:dunno:

oXo Cube 11-18-2013 11:35 AM

The odds that the Oilers make the playoffs this year are better than the chance that someone actually claims this guy.

gqmixmaster 11-18-2013 11:38 AM

so if he gets waived and not picked up, where does he go if he doesn't agree to go to the NHL? Does he just sit at home and twiddle his thumbs or will he still be at the Oil practices?

If any of those teams had seen any highlights of his play, they wont grab him , he has been dreadful. Might as well go with a rookie,

Seedling 11-18-2013 11:39 AM

I never understood the signing in the first place. Hopefully somebody picks him to free up a contract, but I doubt it.

hallsyoilerforever 11-18-2013 11:42 AM

He was plain bad. Hope he gets claimed. Cya later labarbera.

backhandsauce 11-18-2013 11:44 AM

Maybe the Hawks take him?

Trafalgar Law 11-18-2013 11:46 AM

Good riddance, should've signed Bryzgalov from the start and not cost us Smid.

i know anyone taking him is a long shot, just throwing out the most likely ones to do so.

I assume you mean the AHL. If he doesn't agree to go to OKC when the Oilers assign him, they can probably void his contract.
