Details to follow.

seems like a good trade for us, no? or is Beach done?

mrhockey193195 12-06-2013 12:36 PM

Another Sather reclamation project. I don't expect much, if anything from Beach, but hopefully I'm wrong. Also, there were rumors about him being a distraction off the ice? Can anyone speak to that?

Lundsanity30 12-06-2013 12:37 PM

who for who?

SnowblindNYR 12-06-2013 12:38 PM

Well Mashinter is really nothing, so this has no downside that I can see.

Killem Dafoe 12-06-2013 12:39 PM

I'm hoping Beach is a late bloomer. Maybe we get lucky.

Exactly. No risk here that I can see.

An article from the Vancouver Sun just prior to his draft in '08.

JanErixon20 12-06-2013 12:40 PM

A Sather Special.

Made Dan 12-06-2013 12:41 PM

I remember wanting to draft Beach in 08, he was a reach though. Always had a huge physical element to his game so hopefully he can be a banger for us. No loss in Mashinter, might as well take a stab at Beach.

Raspewtin 12-06-2013 12:41 PM

Why?

Kyle Beach is a ****** player and ****** person. Wonderful.

HatTrick Swayze 12-06-2013 12:43 PM

Wow. I know Beach is basically a bust.

But he is exactly what I would like to see on the 3rd/4th line. Truculence with some skill that can skate.

Plus a little bit of crazy.

McRanger 12-06-2013 12:46 PM

AHL trade.

Flavius 12-06-2013 12:50 PM

Classic Sather to trade a player for a beach so he can go out sailing on his boat easier.

goalsequalvictory 12-06-2013 12:51 PM

Hey, it's a long shot, but if the price is Mashinter, who isn't going to be any sort of gamebreaker one way or the other, it's worth a try. It's probably a meaningless move in the end, but it can't hurt to give it a shot.

Fitzy 12-06-2013 12:52 PM

Beach still has potential to be a gritty 4th line forward.

PlamsUnlimited 12-06-2013 12:54 PM

Nothing trade.

nyr2k2 12-06-2013 12:55 PM

Mashinter had no role here, so why the hell not?

Ola 12-06-2013 12:55 PM

This is not a move that signify that this is a seriously run organization. I always been intrigued with Beach. But then I saw him in the SEL this season. He wasn't really close to being able to compete at that level. No potential or ability. Mashinter was atleast a hockey player...

I saw very little of him in Sweden admittedly, but I just thought he was far from good enough...

This. Likely nothing, but there are worse swings to take.

I was high on Beach for a while. I hope he still has some upside, but not sure. I haven't seen him play in over a year.

If I may say so myself, I think he really has nothing.

Machinehead 12-06-2013 01:00 PM

Well at least now we won't have to hear those few people who always cry "ZOMG bRing up MAshinter!!!1!!11!!" every time we "lose" a fight. Just for that the trade is a win.

Rangers Fail 12-06-2013 01:02 PM

In b4 Punxrocknyc posts youtube videos of Beach.

Seriously though , meh for meh trade. Nothing to see here.

Beach is a very tough guy, who can be offensively productive too. Has had some skating issues and hasn't yet played in NHL. Needs new start.
He had some upside in the past. I didn't think he was THAT far away from the NHL a year or so ago. He has a little bit of 'crazy' in him, which this team lacks.

Also, he had 4 goals in his first 7 AHL games this year and then left for Sweden. My guess? He asked for a trade and then left. He wanted a new start as he felt he was close but was being passed over. I think he may have more in the tank than many here believe.
