Calgary/Colorado

Colorado:

Mark Giordano
Sean Monahan

Calgary:

Nathan MacKinnon
Stephen Elliott

I'd imagine Colorado would decline. Joe Sakic was really keen on drafting MacKinnon.

1st overall picks that play center are usually future stars.

electricjib 12-09-2013 10:52 PM

No thanks. Would never happen.

Pierce Hawthorne 12-09-2013 10:54 PM

Absolutley horrible.

If the Avs wanted Monahan, they would have accepted the 3 1st's trade back before the draft.

Not even close to a deal for the Avs. The difference between Monahan and Mack is not Giordano, and then you want Elliott as well?

Burnaby_Joe* 12-09-2013 10:54 PM

No disrespect to Giordano and Monahan, but no thanks :)

Johnny Hoxville 12-09-2013 10:58 PM

This trade would never happen regardless of the value.

The Kingslayer 12-09-2013 11:03 PM

sigh

Sparky93 12-09-2013 11:03 PM

It's pretty safe to say the trade would never happen. I was more curious as to how much Monahan's stock has risen since the draft. He looks like he may have super star potential.

Flames Fanatic 12-09-2013 11:53 PM

As a Flames fan I respectfully decline as well. I think Mac is gonna be a hell of a player, but for a rebuilding team that has devoted itself to Monahan being "the" guy, not a good idea to move him. Plus if we are moving Gio (which we aren't) I'd rather get some more pieces for him then use him to upgrade.

Why even post this? Really, why?

Because he's the Flames rebuilder. Gotta make moves.

I think he would go 3rd overall if the draft was redone. Funny how it worked out, 2 years ago he was ranked 3rd behind MacKinnon/Jones but playing on a brutal Ottawa team hurt his stock big time, he's extremely smart and talented and when he fills out that big frame he'll be a beast.

I think the Flames would decline this trade, Gio is far too importaint and Monahan has been just as good if not better than MacKinnon before he broke his foot.

Crisp Breakout 12-10-2013 12:18 AM

Let's settle down a bit. He's shooting 20% and has 60% offensive zone starts. Add in the fact that you draft for 5 years down the road as opposed to the first season, and that top-4 stays intact.

This trade wouldn't be about what is happening right now, it's about the future. And there was a reason why one of these players was drafted first overall.

chunkylover53 12-10-2013 09:38 AM

Noo way this happens. That being said monahan does have star potential.

TylerSVT* 12-10-2013 10:25 AM

OP should stop making proposals for a while, this is terrible for both sides.

GamingGiant 12-10-2013 10:29 AM

I am a Monahan fan, but this is a easy pass from Colorado.

Devo1212 12-10-2013 02:18 PM

no way not happening

InfinityIggy 12-10-2013 02:23 PM

Easy to see why this doesn't happen.

Ynnek 12-10-2013 04:20 PM

This can be closed now as it is pointless.

csanadi19 12-10-2013 04:37 PM

I see Monahan as a similar player to Ryan O'Reilly (defensive forward who can put up good amounts of points). Considering Mack ceiling is said to be Stamkos (best case scenario), Giordano isn't enough to take the risk.

BlueDream 12-10-2013 07:07 PM

Bad for Calgary as well. Elliott isn't very good.
