Henrique to Toronto

What would it take to get a deal done?

Jot 12-10-2013 08:23 PM

From my other thread.

New Jersey
Biggest need: Young, NHL ready forwards
Assets willing to give up: Young, NHL ready DMen
Secondary need: Scoring RW.

Toronto
Biggest need: Top 4 Defensive Dman (preferably right handed)
Assets willing to give up: Kulemin, Gardiner, Fraser, Biggs, Franson
Secondary need: #1 center, future #1

Personally i don't think their is a trade to be made here.

Peter Sidorkiewicz 12-10-2013 08:25 PM

Lupul

Nazemlupul 12-10-2013 08:28 PM

No need in a second line center, he's basically another bozak, no thanks.

Mystifo 12-10-2013 08:31 PM

No deal to be done here. Personally I would rather target a guy like Mark Fayne or to a bigger extent Adam Larsson if were willing to give up the price to acquire him.

Does this thread have all of the teams? If so, can you direct me towards it, I'm tired of hearing it change all of the time. Also, do you have sources for it, or is this from your own personal scouting (hopefully it's not just assumptions).

Mostly based on what other HFers on here think their teams needs are.

Well at least I can say their fan base is saying it, and it's not my fault

See I got the New York Rangers needs dead on the first time, but they said no. I said Cody Franson (top 4 Offensive RHD defenseman) and Jerred Smithson (3rd/4th line energy player) for Girardi but they laughed at me saying they didn't need it. Then I changed it to Raymond because they said they needed speed, but then they laughed at me also. Girardi isn't worth that much more than Franson, considering he isn't really good outside of his own end (I'd say as good as Franson is in his own end).

morrielly 12-10-2013 09:03 PM

Why would we want Henrique? He's like the last thing we need.

(His value is not lupul)

I seriously don't know. I think Bozak is a top 6 center, maybe not top line, but if it gets Kessel to play better, then he is. Kadri is also a top 6 center. We also have Bolland, who we'll be able to get at a major discount due to his injury, and McClement who is really solid. Not to mention depth out of our butt with Smith, Smithson and Holland all NHL caliber centers. The same goes for wingers, with Broll, Staubitz, Leivo, D'Amigo, etc. all guys who could demand time in the NHL on at least the bottom 6. It's a top 4 defensive type RHD, a bottom pairing defensive defenseman and picks/prospects for our depth. That's all we really need.

Can't blame them.

In the beginning of the season, Gardiner wasn't playing good, and the entire fan base wanted to trade him.

Now he's played really well over the last 11 games, and we don't really want to move him anymore.

Same can be said for Franson, what if out of no where he starts playing good defensively.

Fayne? Okay, what are you willing to give up for him?

Phion Keneuf 12-10-2013 09:21 PM

2nd + Biggs

Then it's a major steal for them. As of right now, Franson and Girardi are equal, because Franson is an RFA, which while doesn't have as much worth as it used to, is still more valuable than a UFA. I'm throwing in Smithson as a small, mid-low round pick worth kicker, so it's not much more. Otherwise, I'd go for Coburn for Gardiner and a plus, because the guy is bigger and a whole lot better (and cheaper) than Girardi.

Clarkson and Fraser for Henrique

I like it so far. Any way to expand the deal to include Holland ?

Sonic Disturbance 12-10-2013 09:35 PM

Why do we need Henrique? We have enough 2nd/3rd line centers.

Holland and Biggs. I don't know, but I don't want Henrique either.

No need for Henrique. The only reason I started the thread was because a Toronto fan came over to NJD asking about him. If a deal can be built around Fayne, that works for me. We need forwards and I wanted to get the conversation started.

You're obviously willing to move Biggs and have a number of 2/3 C's so you can spare Holland as long as you get value for him.

NJD: Holland, Biggs
TOR: Fayne, ?, ?

This is more like it. I suggested Biggs for Fayne straight up yesterday but wouldn't be opposed to adding Holland. That being said, Fayne is a UFA and the end of the year and has been a healthy scratch a few times over the past two years so I think his value isn't that high at this point. I don't know if it would take two good, young, recent 1st round picks to acquire him.

Kyle Doobas* 12-10-2013 09:53 PM

I like Fayne and all but to trade two recent first round picks for pending UFA who is a second-pairing defenseman at best is completely absurd, even if neither Biggs nor Holland have been particularly impressive to this point.

As for Henrique, I liked him a lot with the Windsor Spitfires and seems pretty underrated around here, but I don't know what the Leafs could offer that would be reasonable for them to part with, while also making sense for the Devils.

It wouldn't. I'd like to give TOR more to pry both in the same deal.

QMJHLfollower 12-10-2013 09:58 PM

Personally I'd want to keep Holland, I really like him and we just acquired him.

A deal based around Biggs, 2nd for Henrique is something I would do. I like Biggs and would like to keep him, and it would be tough to trade another 2nd, but for Hendrique that's a deal I'd do.

The problem is that we don't have a second until 2016.

NJD: Holland, Biggs, TOR 2014 1ST
TOR: Henrique, Fayne, NJD 2014 2ND
