EDIT: Typo in the title.

Another center.

Will he be moved to wing, as per usual?

Who cares? This guy should not be in the NHL.

Is there a chance that this organization will actually sign players that have played a single position their whole life?

I play center, and I know I can play wing if needed. That doesn't mean that instinctually sometimes I drift towards the center's responsibilities because that's what's been ingrained in my head for years.

I mean honestly, it's enough. If you don't have enough wingers, find wingers to sign - don't keep signing centers to play wing.

No matter how easy the transition is, if you've played center your whole life, you may be able to play wing - but it will take a lot of consistent time and effort to switch mentally. And in the meanwhile you'll have your lapses of coverages and responsibilities.

And as such, goals against and less goals for.

I've never seen a team treat a center as a "universal forward" as much as the Flyers. There's a reason B. Schenn looks much better as a center than a wing - because even if he can play wing, he's grown up playing center.

You can switch, but it takes time.

I'd love to know what McGinn did to keep getting shafted.

VandeVeld is not a player a real NHL team signs.

FlyersFan61290 12-12-2013 12:57 PM

Meaning Akeson won't get a call. I really don't understand management.

Good spots still available along Broad Street for the Stanley Cup victory parade.

I care because I'm tired of this organization consistently failing to find anything on the wing.

FlyersFanz 12-12-2013 01:12 PM

Says VandeVelde is LW and playing tonight vs the Habs on the Score. Did we get rid of Hartnell:sarcasm:

Well yeah, me too. But this guy isn't an NHL player even at his natural position. What makes them think he can come in and play a different one?

Curufinwe 12-12-2013 01:28 PM

Better than playing Rosehill on the 4th line wing.

They have no other options. Despite the love rest for guys like McGinn and Akeson, they are fringe NHL prospects. The game is based on skating now and those two can't skate. Couple that with questionable defensive coverage and you can see why they have to sign this nobody.

Does it really matter at this point? I say give the guy a shot what's to lose other than another hockey game. Flyers need some change somewhere to get things going, not saying Vanderwhomever is going to be the answer but you never know.

Really?

Hm, who sits? Hartnell. Pending trade????

Maybe Rinaldo/Rosehill sit?

sa cyred 12-12-2013 01:41 PM

VV better not be playing in the top 9. He is pretty good defensively with below average offensive skill. Honestly a Raffl-Hall-VV line wouldnt be that bad. All three play some good defensive hockey.

I read something last night that Tye McGinn has been sick since he got the call up. He hasnt been practicing with the team, so this is likely to get a body in place. They seemed to really like VandeVelde in the preseason

I agree with you, that's what I was thinking as well

Unfortunately I don't think that will happen till Vinny's back next year.
