Over on Leafs board

they are trying to figure out how to shut down Keith Primeau. :)

i am dave 07-31-2005 10:55 AM

Has anyone come up with the idea that they call Primeau, get him to hold out from camp, get released from his contract, and subsequently sign with the Leafs because it's been his boyhood dream to play for Toronto?

FlyersHomer DM03 07-31-2005 11:14 AM

yeah thats tampering...

gotta love the fact that our 3rd line center strikes fear in the heart of opponents, oh yeah, we've got two ahead of him

Primeau will have a...good regular season, 20-25 goals if he stays healthy, but will make his greatest impact on the checking line...he will be a force in the playoffs, not a doubt in my mind

The best part is, in this role, he really only needs to go out there and be a 10-15 goal guy as long as his line shuts down the opposition. Was I alone in thinking the '04 playoff run looked a lot like when Claude Lemieux broke out in '95?

Divine intervention.

they think they can sign Foote to solve the "Primeau" problem. :biglaugh:

Original6 07-31-2005 03:01 PM

Primeau sucks anyways.

Funny reasoning, but Foote would shut down Primeau. He's an average offensive player that had one great playoff run.

At least it'd be an improvement.

HAHA, take a look at Eddies stats for 2003-2004:

GP: 59
W-L-T: 34-19-6
GA: 122
SO: 10
GAA: 2.13
S%: 0.91

Pretty much best in the league, one shut out less than Brodeur who played about 20 more games, with a defense that was 10 times as good. The only thing the kitchen sink has on Eddie is a stable back, little more sportmans ship, and a smaller beer gut.

I'd take the Kitchen sink, it's not forty+ years old, recovering from a back surgery, and taking up four and a half in cap space.

He doesn't have to be anything more than an average offensive player on a checking line. Even if he doesn't repeat his most recent playoff performance in the future offensively, his shut down ability was outstanding.

I hope the Leafs are focusing on Primeau as much as the Leafs' fans are.... then Gagne/Carter/JR/anybody can run amok!

Hey, why not break down Eddie's playoff season stats for us? For last year AND the year before. It's a little embarassing. I'm not sure why Leaf fans continue to give Eddie a free pass for his sub par playoff performances ever since he's been a Leaf.
