Theodore's father and half-brothers charged Tuesday

"MONTREAL (CP) - Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jose Theodore's father, uncle and half-brothers were among 14 people charged Tuesday with conspiracy in an alleged loansharking ring.

Some of the 14 were also charged with extortion, loansharking, gangsterism and uttering threats.

Lawyers entered not guilty pleas for the 14, who did not attend the court proceedings. Their next court appearance is set for December. The men were not detained.

Media reports last June linked Theodore's relatives with the alleged loansharking ring.


Police said in July the all-star goaltender was ``currently not part of a criminal investigation.''
Theodore has said he continues to support his family but he has refused to discuss details of the case."
