Brière: scratched or concussion?

According to espn:

http://scores.espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=400484861

Brière is missing this game because of a concussion.

Is that a mistake or did I miss this information somehow?

TheRooster 01-03-2014 12:00 PM

It wouldn't be surprising, then again it is ESPN.

Emily 01-03-2014 12:06 PM

I pretty sure he's a healthy scratch. Don't think he'll be with the team much longer.

Theosis 01-03-2014 12:10 PM

He's been playing terrible... Pretty sure just a healthy scratch.

Bergevin must be kicking himself in the ass for not resigning Ryder instead of Briere.

If true the guy needs to call it a career. Not before he host his annual golf tourney at the club we both belong to, got invited to play 2 years ago and got to play with Hartnell, as much as I hate him as a hockey player, was one of the funnest days ever.

I doubt Ryder would have wanted to come back.

You better be! That took me FIVE minutes to write! Think that Gomez finding his chaise GOLD writes itself?!

LOL, it was a fun little thing to do.

IMO the organization would not cover this information as they know this could be a big distraction with all this media talk.

s613s 01-03-2014 01:06 PM

He's a healthy scratch and being shopped imho

Phil Parent 01-03-2014 01:09 PM

I'm thinking Brière was rejected by the room, first and foremost.

Can you prove that ?

I mainly think MT doesn't know where to fit him in the line up.

He is 38, and should had retire in the off season. MB decided to give him another chance. Too bad !

David_99 01-03-2014 01:13 PM

I'm sure he's causing more headaches and nausea then experiencing them himself.

Habs 01-03-2014 01:18 PM

You guys are too hard on him. Imagine the stress of having to spend all that money?

If no one else is reporting it, it's just a game summary miscue.

Look at the reason ESPN gives for Ray Whitney ("illness") -- what does that even mean.

He's actually 36, but I agree this is Therrien not knowing how to coach properly. Don't put a veteran center on the wing, and don't play him on the 3rd/4th line with 9min a game and expect him to excel (not to mention on the wing). Should've kept him with Pleks and Gio when they were dominating.

MDN 01-03-2014 01:41 PM

Any credibility to Fred Poulin? Saying Briere and MT had a heated exchange.

I would not expect less from both of them. Brière is probably very frustrated about his use. While MT has no ****ing idea where to fit him in his line up already filled with too many smaller players. MT cannot certainly not take his Captain Gionta off the line up.

ROSSter 01-03-2014 01:54 PM

Traded? Lots of talk about him being shipped to Buffalo.

For Stafford or Leino, both also injured.

I'd rather have a mid round pick for him, and keep the money to re-sign PK, Eller and Markov.

dkdaniel 01-03-2014 02:22 PM

Healthy scratch IMO.
