Mason Raymond at the Deadline

I don't think Raymond will be with the leafs next season and he'll sign somewhere else for more money. I'd say his value come trade deadline would be around a 2nd round pick or maybe a possible late 1st. What would you offer from your team?

Luck 6 01-10-2014 11:15 AM

If he stays around a 20 goal, 50 point pace I'd say you can get a 2nd for him for sure. I don't think anyone will offer you a 1st, but there may be a small + of some sort attached to the 2nd.

i would be shocked if nonis could get a late 1st for him. if he could get a 2nd i would be impressed. i think a 3rd and a meh prospect is probably closer to his value

Nazemlupul 01-10-2014 11:16 AM

Probably 2 2nds, it's clearly a sellers market.

Thee Implication 01-10-2014 11:17 AM

He'd be a pretty good rental for his price tag

I would say you're right but there might be a very slight possibility that a contending team like sanjose would cough up a 26th-30th overall pick. And a caphit at 1M he'd fit under most teams cap rather easily

Mason Raymond is a horrible playoff rental @ ANY price.

Whoever trades for him will regret it.

Kesselology 01-10-2014 11:21 AM

2nd rounder + a meh prospect. Teams overpay at the deadline, and his playoff track record isn't great but he could still help out some teams

The Podium 01-10-2014 11:31 AM

If he's being sold off for picks and prospects than Leafs should retain half salary. A 50 point player for 500k to a contender definitely has a lot of value to a team tight against the cap looking for secondary scoring. Maybe SJ?

VictoriaJetsFan 01-10-2014 11:48 AM

If they can't find anyone else. ..Pittsburgh should pick him up.

21JVR* 01-10-2014 11:53 AM

Send him to LA for our condition 2014 or 2015 2nd round pick.

Toxic0n 01-10-2014 11:54 AM

A late 1st for MayRay?

I do hope a Western conference contender trades for him, cause he is useless in the playoffs. I don't see anyone giving up more than a late 2nd for him though

lginger33 01-10-2014 11:57 AM

Pitts could use some wingers, if we keep free falling, maybe Raymond and Kuli for their 1st and Prospect or for Depres. Reasonable?

Given his prior playoff performances I think teams may be reluctant to pay much for a playoff run. He could definitely help a team on the bubble reach the playoffs but I don't see the contenders being too interested.

How about Despress and 2nd(if they goes to conference final or 3rd)?

I like Mason but this is partly true. His offensive game has never translated all that well to the post-season.

If all you need is a 3rd or even 4th line guy that can back off opposition D and PK in a pinch, he'd be fine though. That's more 2nd-3rd round value a 1st is out of the question in today's NHL IMO.

ManofSteel55 01-10-2014 02:32 PM

2nd or 3rd. There will be a few 50 point wingers available, and while I see interest in him from some teams for the sake of depth, I don't see him bringing anything that would set him apart from a lot of the other wingers who will also be available.

lebdafor norris 01-10-2014 02:46 PM

2nd + 5th

WildcatMapleLeafs28 01-10-2014 02:51 PM

We'd definitely be able to get a 2nd.

He's going to be a 50 point player this season and is on an awesome contract. (1 million). He's the perfect fit for a contender.

If I had to guess his value , it would be a 2nd + mid level prospect.

Pittsburgh might be a good fit.

2nd 2014/15 + Blaine Byron (6th rounder - 2013)

The guy has done nothing in the playoffs, ever, don't forget that. And he didn't work out particularly well in the west near the end. Those two factors make him a bit risky, I don't see a 1st going the other way.

KeninsFan 01-10-2014 03:20 PM

I don't see why playoff bound teams would cough up a 2nd for Raymond.

Posters love bringing up his regular season success and his 1M contract but neither of those things matter in the playoffs.

Raymond is one of the worst post season performers I've ever seen. He's a speedy 4th liner in the Western playoffs.
