The Blues get him at a lower salary in exchange for a four-year deal, the kind of security an enforcer-type normally doesn't get. Great deal for both sides.

Why not sticky this? The guy has been a full-time NHLer for awhile, show him his due respect!

Alklha 01-10-2014 06:56 PM

Great to have him back another 4 years. He has totally earned this contract.

Blues fans what letter grade would you give him so far this season? He's always intrigued me.

He's only played 26 games due to a broken hand but when he has played, I've really loved his game. He brings an extra edge to our game without being a liability out there.

Silfverberg Snipes 01-10-2014 07:03 PM

What a steal. Damn you Blues...

He missed some time with a broken hand but when he is in the lineup he has been great. Love this deal

BigHabs 01-10-2014 07:09 PM

Damn!

Great price on the contract.

This was a guy that I was hoping Bergevin would of looked at to fill the bottom 6 in the offseason.

SteenMachine 01-10-2014 07:09 PM

He does a good job of being the tough guy, but he also really energizes the team and helps people stay focused on the team winning instead of the drama on the ice. He plays hard along the boards and tries his best to cycle, but has the hands of a 4th liner, and it's up to his teammates to generate offense through him. Regardless he's aware of his limitations and makes smart choices on them instead of trying to do too much.

A- or B+.

Perfect 4th liner, we missed him when he was out with injury.

Oberyn 01-10-2014 07:10 PM

Reaves is the perfect 4th liner, he can skate, he hits, fights, strong on the cycle and has decent puck skills. Absolutely love this deal.

Ray Ferraro 01-10-2014 07:18 PM

Was always a big fan of this guy. Perfect 4th liner, enforcer with some skill is rare.

stlblueskiwi 01-10-2014 07:23 PM

Yeah I have to agree with what all the Blues fans previously have said, you will be hard pressed to find a Blues fan who isn't happy with this deal.

Quares27 01-10-2014 07:26 PM

Not bad... i'd gladly take him on my 4th line and 1.1 isnt much

crowi 01-10-2014 07:29 PM

Unpleasant!

GKJ 01-10-2014 07:36 PM

Great job by Ryan Reaves convincing the Blues that they need to sign him to a contract longer than that of Alexander Steen. All the while doing so with Ken Hitchcock deathly afraid to use him (despite his belief of the contrary)

SquiddFX 01-10-2014 07:48 PM

Good deal. Reaves is a solid 4th liner.

stlblues9 01-10-2014 07:56 PM

Love this deal. Glad to see he will be a Blue for at least 4 more years. He will probably be a Blue for his career.
