Great CAP DEBATE as it applies to the FLYERS

here's a good thread, regarding the Flyers current situation - scenario: The Flyers are currently over the cap and need to start trading players, (more than likely JR) to get under the cap. In the meantime, they have to qualify certain players and probably have a few arbitration cases coming up as well. They have a few KEY RFA's: Gagne, Johnsson and Esche.

If you're an astute GM, why not come in and make an offer to one of these 3? The Flyers would have to match and simply COULDN'T, because they'd be over the cap. Maybe you could sign Gagne for 3 million or so. The compensation to the Flyers would be (not exactly sure) something like a 1st and 3rd round pick! Not bad for a 25 year old semi-star player in his prime!

The new CBA presents some interesting scenarios.
