That's a very good signing for the CBJs

SuperUnknown 08-04-2005 01:58 PM

Use him as your starter and trade Denis to Montreal!! :propeller

HuskyFlames 08-04-2005 01:59 PM

I agree. a SOLID signing for the CBJ which gives them 2-3 years to determine what to do with Leclaire and his development.

NYR94 08-04-2005 02:00 PM

I thought Leclaire would be ready this year to be a backup. And didn't they sign Irbe last summer?

Scoogs 08-04-2005 02:01 PM

Columbus is moving on up. I'm glad. They are a good hockey city, and I would love to see them be successful.

Good job Blue Jackets.

DJAnimosity 08-04-2005 02:01 PM

Irbe was only signed to a one-year deal last year, and is now a UFA.

AL-Canadian 08-04-2005 02:02 PM

Great move for the Jackets.

Irbe is a UFA if I'm not mistaken.

He's going to develop himself right into unrestricted free agency at that pace.

Matt Foley* 08-04-2005 02:04 PM

Irbe was a one year deal who signed before the lockout. He's off the books now.

While the organization is still high on Leclaire, he needs to show that he can handle a full season's load in the AHL as the main starter before he's ready to be Denis' backup in Columbus. He was injured much of last season at Syracuse and didn't play as much as the organization would have liked to show them that he was ready for the backup role with the Jackets.

NYR94 08-04-2005 02:06 PM

Okay, thanks, I didn't know that Leclaire was injured.

Egil 08-04-2005 02:07 PM

Anyone know the amount?

He only signed for one year. Leclaire will be at least the backup the following year if he stays healthy all year and peforms well. Should have good Dman in Syracuse to help out a little this year.

Twist and Shout 08-04-2005 02:27 PM

Wow. Nice signing!

Why the heck would you want Leclaire to be up in Columbus next year sitting the bench behind Denis when he could be down on the farm playing everyday and learning what it takes to be a pro?

Having him in Columbus all year as a backup would only hurt his development IMO...

Bileur 08-04-2005 04:35 PM

Nice pick-up, sad to see him leave Ottawa.

PeterSidorkiewicz 08-04-2005 09:21 PM

grrrrrrrrrrrrrr, FIRST my Ron Tugnutt Sens jersey, goes to Columbus, NOW my Sens Prusek jersey, off to Columbus. Damn Columbus is making me spend too much money on all my jerseys, I think im gonna write them a letter of displeasure.

Vyse64 08-04-2005 09:24 PM

i was hoping the oilers would have picked him up
