Canucks to sign Richard Park

According to the Team 1040 in Vancouver.

Old Hickory 08-08-2005 10:23 AM

Did they hire Nostradamus?

p.l.f. 08-08-2005 10:24 AM

yay a signing! my god

that should open the floodgates again

Chevy Cheveldae 08-08-2005 10:25 AM

oh no...

i wanna see the Canucks go after a defenceman instead....

Steveorama 08-08-2005 10:28 AM

Unless Park is signing for close to minimum (doubtful), I can't see how the Canucks can take on his salary without dumping another salary.
Park is a guy who I believe could do better in an NHL with less obstruction.

Always liked him... a little smallish, but he can skate and handle the puck. Plus I love it went guys from SoCal do well at the NHL level.

Park is now on the Canucks roster at www.nhlpa.com , so I assume they have come to an arrangement. :handclap: He's a quick little bugger for sure.

$750,000 not bad, its a fair price.

hockeyfan125 08-08-2005 12:10 PM

good signing for us

Eddie Vedder 08-08-2005 12:27 PM

I look forward to calling him Dick Park over the next 82+ games.

Oilers Ent 08-08-2005 12:29 PM

Always liked Richard Park. Good signing by the Canucks. Hopefully he does well.

Lobstertainment 08-08-2005 04:15 PM

Do you think he'll be playing with the Sedin's?

bhar 08-08-2005 04:20 PM

I'm thinking Cook will possibly play with the Sedins and Park will fill in for Cook. Doing this we don't lose any depth.

thestonedkoala 08-08-2005 04:54 PM

I lost my pride...Ouch! Brunette to the Avs? Park to the Nucks? Wow they are sure sticking it to the Wild.

JB150 08-08-2005 06:31 PM

Not bad for 750 G'z

parabola 08-08-2005 06:43 PM

He wont be playing with sedins thats for sure. I agree this is a good depth move, lets us put Cooke on the 2nd line. Good signing definately in my opinion. Only one year tho, i guess theyre giving him a trial run.

Bookman 08-08-2005 06:57 PM

If they do crack down on obstruction, etc., you guys signed a good guy - fast, hard working, and in possession of more skill than he is generally given credit for. He usually does well at international competitions where the emphasis is more on skill than bruising.

Does Sportsnet not know who Richard Park is?

They refer to him as a blue-liner, defenseman and rear guard...not the same Park I remember watching play centre ice in Minnesota.

That's just bad guys...get it right.

Maybe they're thinking of Brad Park for some reason? :dunno:

Mike Krushelnyski 08-09-2005 02:10 AM

I'll lay you all odds that they're thinking of Jim Paek...

Cuz you know all of them Asian's look the same :shakehead

Biatcheslov 08-09-2005 02:27 AM

As a Canuck fan living in Korea with a Korean wife who's last name is PARK, I am very happy. :) But my wife may be happier now that she can finally get her Canucks jersey with Park on the back and it will actually mean something. :handclap:

chum 08-09-2005 06:58 PM

apparently NHL.com thinks richard park is D too

http://www.nhl.com/news/2005/08/232428.html

"VANCOUVER CANUCKS-Signed D Richard Park."

HellsBells 08-09-2005 07:20 PM

Meh, nothing great IMO. A decent 4th liner.
