Barney

Barney signed with Atlanta. No link

Then how do you know?

If it's true, good luck Scott, but I think it was wise to part ways with him.

Best of luck to Barney in Atlanta. Hopefully, he can stay healthy there.

After all the money the Kings threw at him during his injuries, this is that thanks they get. He could have signed a deal with Manchester out right.

While I agree, the players could give a ****. Boucher and now Barney both toiled in the minors after years of injuries but the Kings stuck with them until they finally developed into good players, and this is how they repay the organization. I 'm not the type of person to hope that he screws up, but good luck is the extent he'll get from me.

It's my understanding that Scott was pretty much asked to leave town prior to the playoffs in Manchester last season. He knew he wasn't coming back and he didn't screw the Kings or the Monarchs...Too bad, all the guys on the team really liked Scott...

Only an idiot would sign an AHL deal when he's got an NHL deal on the table. Not to mention with a team with far less forward depth, where he can easily climb up the depth charts.

Why what did he do that was so bad ?

Nothing...

Reaper45 08-08-2005 09:48 PM

I think it'll be interesting to see how much longer his body can stand the rigors of professional hockey.

True if you think you are going to play in the NHL. My guess is at 25 about to turn 26 this season, his days as a prospect are over.

He actually played quite well for the Kings in 03-04, until he got hurt.

totally. and then all of a sudden he's being not just "let go," but is actually being "asked to leave." i tune hockey out for one little lockout, and the whole place is going nuts! there needs to be a seminar for returning fans.

thats just rediculous...your loyalty should be to yourself and your family...cause i assure you the kings loyalty is to $$$...

having not given an offer versus an offer is not rocket science...if you want to talk about loyalty, he returned to the kings 3 years ago after he recovered from the back injury...he didn't have to return to them ... but he did...now that the kings think they've had it with his injuries, please don't call him disloyal after all thats happened.

I agree with you! Barney is a good guy and a sad loss.

when he was healthy, he played well.

scott didn't play at all last season, and had 2-3 surgeries, including abdominal surgery & hip flexor repairs.

very personable guy, very accessible to fans here in manchester for the last couple years. he'll be missed.

GoneFullHolmgren 08-09-2005 12:03 PM

really gonna miss him. the guy could never catch a break thou. when he was healthy he was a valuable part of the team. The Monarchs sure could have used his soze last season. Good luck Barney. class act and good guy.
