EDM and PHI

I know that you guys are high on Couturier and EDM fans are high on Eberle.
I think a deal between these two teams would help both teams out.

What would you guys think is fair in a deal involving Couturier and Eberle?
Who would have to add and what would have to be added?

Just bought a Couturier jersey so I can almost guarantee that this deal will happen.

FlyersFanz 02-12-2014 01:40 PM

No to trading Couturier...Eberle is good but Flyers say no..

I don't think this works from a Flyers POV. A scoring winger for Giroux would be nice, but not at the cost of center depth - and more importantly our most reliable defensive player.

flyershockey 02-12-2014 01:42 PM

Eberle is certainly the better offensive player, but Couturier is too important to the overall success of the team to risk losing him for an upgrade at the least important position in hockey. Plus, I'm not sold on Eberle's playing style. He's becomig more and more of a perimeter player in a league where few of those guys have a solid impact.

Centre is where your team has depth, that is the position to trade from. Eberle and Giroux would be crazy.

Would you rather have a shooter like Yak?
So, what do you guys think would be fair for Eberle or Yak?

Couturier's defense is too important to the team. It would require an overpayment to get him out of Philly IMO just because moving him would create yet another hole.

Yes the Flyers have lots of centers but no one comes close in terms of defensive ability. So it's really not that simple.

Oilers and Flyers aren't good trading partners. The Flyers have what Edm needs (centers and size on wings) but the Oilers don't have what the Flyers need which is a #1. Sure the Flyers needs a goal scoring LW but he has to be a proven commodity for the Flyers to move significant pieces (aka not Yak).

B.Schenn and Dman or a pick?

Hiesenberg 02-12-2014 02:09 PM

If Laughton was playing 4C or something like that. I can see moving Couturier, you have a "possible" replacement, but right now there is nobody that plays as well as defensive C on the Flyers. Moving him in season would cause a giant hole.

Maybe offseason for the right pieces, pieces being Dmen

I thought Edmonton only wanted Coburn.

Management wanted him but PHI wanted too much for him.

Only way Couturier gets moved is if a sick defenseman was coming the other way. Even then, I would cry myself to sleep. Couturier is just so valuable.

We don't need scoring help bad enough to sacrifice Couturier. The Flyers are pretty deep with scorers. We especially don't need a RW. Simmonds and Voracek have the top two spots locked down. We also have Read at RW, who is the perfect compliment to Couturier. If anything, we need a LW. And no, we don't want Yakupov.

LW...Taylor Hall?

BillDineen 02-12-2014 02:42 PM

I do not think Couturier should be part of any package. I do like Eberle though.

Sounds like Eberle isn't needed on your team and unless Cout is involved I can't see a deal happening

kelmitchell 02-12-2014 03:00 PM

id do it for Taylor hall though id still cringe but could you imagine a first line hall giroux vorabeast ?? that'd be nasty!!!!! so unfair, but we would increase our offense while not really putting our defense at risk, we still have laughton who is nhl ready to fill in third line so coots traded for hall would work for me, although im sure they'd ask for a pick

No way they trade Taylor Hall.

FLYguy3911 02-12-2014 03:28 PM

Couturier for Weber. Who says no first? Poile or Flyer fans on HF?

Jtown 02-12-2014 03:35 PM

The flyers and edm are bad trade partners.

THe flyers have a ton of pieces that EDM needs like coburn simmonds, couturier.

The oilers have nothing we need. As good as eberle is he worthless if he isnt putting up points. He is weak, doesnt play a lick of d and honestly he checks out of games. he is very unnoticeable on the ice .

Coots may never be able to score like Eberle does, but that is ok we have a first line that can score. What we need from Coots is what he brings to the table. he is perfect for us since he can play big minutes, is very effective at even strength. Is a big center that is only getting better in all aspects of the game. Might be the best penalty killer in the league already.

This is it. Couturier is a big C who controls the centre of the ice for 20 mins/game vs. the other teams' top lines and is an elite PKer already.

The Oilers don't have anyone, except maybe Hall, that I would trade one-for-one for Couturier.

We need a top pairing Dman for next year, and that's the only way one of the top kids will be dealt.

shipwreck 02-12-2014 04:27 PM

I say we trade for Bryz back :laugh:

Serious just kidding :naughty:

FourthLineGoon 02-12-2014 05:23 PM

EDM is such a tragedy of a franchise right now. They really do have some seriously promising young offensive talent, but they're wasting away in that current situation. Can you imagine Taylor Hall or RNH on a cup contender? God forbid they ever get desperate enough to put one of those guys on the trading block and Pittsburgh or Boston come calling.

As for the guys who they likely would put up, EDM would likely ask for more than we should ever give up. I like Yakupov, but i know they would ask for a lot for him. For example, i'd shoot down nearly any trade offer than asks for Couts. He's too important on both sides of the puck for the Flyers. I've seen the Flyers mentioned in a couple of rumors involving Sam Gagner? Unless they want anything more than, say, Downie and/or Mesz+2nd, i don't want anything to do with him. We have enough decent point-getting forwards who don't play defense.

Jtown 02-12-2014 05:43 PM

The problem is that they have hall eberle rnh and yak who have not hit their prime and then they have nothing else.

They really dont have much talent on that team.

You can't win in hockey that way and they are gonig to have to start drafting a lot better and hit on some non first rounders
