Austria with a 5-2 win, Grabner scores.

MrRuin 02-17-2014 09:18 AM

Going to be a very interesting game. Many of the players know each other, donre have played together in the Austrian league. Either way this game ends, the winner will be a huge surprise quarter finalist.

I think Lange well get the start in goal again for the Austrians after his impressive play against Norway.

Urbanskog 02-17-2014 09:28 AM

Despite Slovenia having beaten the odds, I'm rather sure that Austria wins this one.

SprDaVE 02-17-2014 09:47 AM

I also think Austria takes this one. I'll go with 4-3.

Evil Doctor 02-17-2014 10:05 AM

It's weird to think that one of these teams are going to make it the top 8...

johnko 02-17-2014 10:06 AM

Whoever loses this it will be a very, very painful loss. It will be tough. Austrian should have the role of favourites. Its 3 NHLers against 1.
Maybe you dont know, but we already played one game in Sochi with Austria. It was a training game before the start and behind closed doors. It was 4-1 for Austrians.

Eye of Ra 02-17-2014 10:13 AM

see you later, austria.

novisor 02-17-2014 10:43 AM

If Slovenia has anything left in the tank, I believe they win, but win or lose, hats of to the little country that could in Sochi.
If Austria wins, and Vanek wakes up, I believe they could upset Sweden or at least scare them. The Vanek-Raffl-Grabner line has to be firing on all cylinders.

frostyflo 02-17-2014 11:33 AM

Could go either way, I hope Lange plays and has another great game!

Namejs 02-17-2014 11:43 AM

Team Austria are definitely slight favorites, but the Slovenian team does have a realistic shot of making another monumental upset here for their programme.

hisgirlfriday 02-17-2014 11:44 AM

What is Kopy's heakth status?

slovakia18 02-17-2014 11:51 AM

Slovenia Beat Slovakia but i think Austria is a little bit harder to beat this moment.
Its one Game and the mental thinks not unimportant.

Vanek look in moment lazy, but vanek can go strong wen he find his way on the Ice.

croAVSfan* 02-17-2014 01:36 PM

I hope for Austrian win ! Grabner with two goals.

skolgoar 02-17-2014 01:52 PM

Slovenia should get a bit of a lift having Kovacevic back in the lineup. His suspension left a bit of a hole in the game against USA. It will be interesting to see if one of the teams steps up to be a little more offensive minded. Austria has more NHLers, but Mursak is in that class having played for Detroit and Kopitar can not only shut down Vanek, but he can be a game breaker as well. The game may be decided more by the 2nd and lower lines.

LiveeviL 02-17-2014 01:58 PM

A good matchup, I will watch.

driller1 02-17-2014 02:03 PM

Kopitar only played 11 mins against the USA and is battling a stomach virus requiring blood tests at the hospital. I hope he's OK and that he has something left in the tank.

johnko 02-17-2014 03:13 PM

Kopitar was in hospital, he drank some redehidration shakes and he feels fine. Maybe he wont be 100%, but it will be ok.
I do believe our team will be more motivated. Slovenia deffo has bigger heart than Austria.

likid 02-17-2014 03:48 PM

You have to understand that for Slovenia Austria is in ice-hockey opponent, that cause the highest motivation for our players. Even higher than best teams in the world. This is because of our joint league (EBEL) where our teams always felt that they are not equally treated from officials, referees...

I'm not sure if Austria see us the same way but I know for our team tommorow is acceptable result only win and nothing else. It doesn't matter how, just win. And that this match will give one QF is just extra bonus.

HajdukSplit 02-17-2014 05:09 PM

EBEL "all star" game :D

Hoping for Slovenia but I think Austria are winning this one

Shrimper 02-17-2014 05:51 PM

Austria win for me. 5-2.

zamo86* 02-17-2014 07:04 PM

In 22 years Slovenia and Austria have met 22 times. Austria leads in wins 10:8 and has a slightly better goal difference (54:53). The Austrians have also won more important games:

2002 WC (Sweden); Austria vs Slovenia 5:3
2003 WC (Finland); Austria vs Slovenia 6:2
2005 WC (Austria); Austria vs Slovenia 2:6
2009 Olympic qualifiers (Germany); Austria vs Slovenia 4:3 OT
2011 WC (Slovakia); Austria vs Slovenia 3:2
2012 WC Div I (Slovenia); Austria vs Slovenia 2:3

GordieHoweHatTrick 02-17-2014 07:26 PM

Who plays in goal tomorrow? Any confirmed starters?
