Trade Deadline Prediction Game
Thought it would be fun to make a thread officially for everyone's predictions of player movement leading up to the deadline.
Predicted trades: (+25 points for exact trades, +10 points if you get the right team*)
Oilers give: (+10 points for every player/pick correctly guessed, -5 for incorrectly)
Oilers get: (+10 points for every player/pick correctly guessed, -5 for incorrectly)
Signings: (+10 points for every player/pick correctly guessed, -5 for incorrectly)
*A predicted asset has to be predicted in that trade, aka if you predict a Hemsky to Pittsburgh for a 2nd, but the deal is Schultz to Pittsburgh for a 3rd, you dont get any points
Ales Hemsky to Montreal for Jacob de la Rose
Nick Schultz to San Jose for 3rd rounder
Ryan Jones to Pittsburgh for 3rd rounder
Corey Potter to Detroit for 4th rounder
Jacob de la Rose
Hemsky to Penguins
Schultz to caps
Gagner to east
Nobody else moved
If Steve Tambellini were still our GM, this contest would be easy as pie.
But I have a feeling that MacT is going to shed some "dead weight."
I'd say Hemsky to Detroit, Gagner to L.A., and N. Schultz to Philly.
Not much of immediate substance will becoming back.
Hemsky to LA for 1st rounder (thank you Olympics),
N. Schultz to Pitts for 3rd rounder,
Gagner to Nashville for Colin Wilson and a 4th rounder,
Potter to Detroit for 5th rounder,
Jones to San Jose for 4th rounder,
Bryzgalov to Chi for 5th rounder.
Gagner to Nasvhille for Collin Wilson and 2nd rounder.
Hemsky to Ottawa for Grenning.
Nick Schultz to Colorado for 3rd rounder.
Bryzgalov to Pittsburgh for 3rd rounder.
Smyth to Columbus for 5th rounder.
Larsen to Tampa Bay for 6th rounder.
Re-sign Mark Fraser
Re-sign Ryan Jones
Re-sign Ben Scrivens
Hemsky to Detroit for a 2nd.
Gagner not moved (not for a lack of trying though). They will try again at the draft.
Bryzgalov and N. Schultz moved for 3rd rounders.
Nick Schultz to Boston for Jordan Caron and a 5th
Ales Hemsky to Los Angeles for Kyle Clifford and a 3rd
Ryan Jones to Ottawa for a 4th.
Boom goes the dynamite.
Hemsky for a decent prospect (like Linden Vey)
N. Schultz for a 3rd round pick
Bryzgalov to Winnipeg for a 2nd round pick - Pavelec is terribad and might be waived
Ryan Jones for a 4th round pick
Ryan Smyth to Vancouver for a 4th round pick (stays close to home and gives Vancouver some needed pp depth)
Gagner moves at the draft.
N. Schultz to San Jose for a 3rd
Hemsky/Gagner not moved
Smyth to Pittsburgh/cup contender for a 4th
Ales Hemsky (retained 50%) to Sharks for PIT 2nd rounder in 2014, Taylor Doherty
Nick Schultz to Avalanche for 4th round pick in 2014
Ryan Smyth (retained 50%) to Penguins for 5th round pick in 2014
Ryan Jones to Senators for 6th round pick in 2014
Give: Hemsky, N.Schultz, Smyth, Jones
Get: PIT 2nd, COL 4th, PIT 4th, OTT 6th, Doherty
Signings: Scrivens re-signs, 3 yrs, 2.75M cap hit
Sorry oiler fans. You might get a 3rd and prospect for Hemsky.
Potter and Jones on waivers and no one wanted them
Brygalov wont be going to chicago
Hemsky to Ottawa for a 2nd round pick
Nick Shultz to Boston for a 3rd round pick.
Ryan Smyth to Dallas for a 3rd round pick
Ryan Jones to Phenoix for a 5th round pick
It's a trade deadline guessing game, not a trade proposal thread.
Hemsky (50%) to San Jose
-Would be a great fit there imo. Not only would his skill set be appreciated, but he could also help out Tomas Hertl as an added bonus. I could also see Hemsky re-signing there.
N.Schultz to Minnesota
-I don’t really think there is a favourable market for Schultz, especially if Calgary is willing to trade Smid. Kesla, a similar player with a similar cap hit, has passed through waivers a couple of times now. I could see Minnesota taking a flyer on him hoping he could return to ‘Minnesota Wild Nick Schultz’ form on the cheap.
Jones to Pittsburgh
-Bylsma loves his bottom 6 energy guys.
Smyth (50%) to Boston or Chicago
-If Smyth wants to go for a cup I could see MacT doing him a favour, if not, he'll obviously stay. Would provide some nice depth for Boston. Could help Chicago's PK. Don't really see him being a fit on any of the other contenders.
Gagner doesn’t get traded
-Makes more sense to wait until the draft/off season to move him. Nashville would probably the best likely destination for him.
*TL;DR - Get ready for disappointing TDD. Basically players for mid round picks, maybe some B-prospect.
common theme in most of posts is: none of us have a shred of optimism or belief that a bold move is even possible. We have finally come to the admission that this team has painted themselves into a corner on so many different fronts that they are absolutely paralyzed. (eg. does anyone doubt that the organization's answer for replacing Gagner is to draft Reinhart or Bennet? they haven't got any other solutions other than to draft high)
The type of deal you're hoping for is an offseason thing, when teams are building their rosters and managing their cap for the coming year.
Ok this seems like fun actually, so here we go.
The Oilers make the following deals.
- Hemsky(Max Salary Retention) and Curtis Hamilton to PIT for Simon Despres
- Nick Schultz(Mas Salary Retention) to PHI for Andre Mezsaros(salary dump) and 3rd Round pick
- Andres Meszaros(25% Salary Retention) and Corey Potter to WSH for Ryan Stoa, a 2nd and a 3rd Round pick
- Sam Gagner and Anton Belov to NSH for Colin Wilson, a 2nd and 4th Round pick
- Ryan Jones to SJ for a 4th Round Pick
- Ryan Smyth to CLB for 3rd Round Pick
- 2x 3rd Round Picks to FLA for Shawn Mattias
- 4th Round Pick to DAL for Vern Fidler
- Jordan Eberle, Anton Lander, Jeff Petry and 2nd Round Pick to BUF for Steve Ott, Tyler Myers and Kristian Erhoff
So it would work out to being:
Out for the Oilers
2nd Round Pick
2x3rd Round Picks
4th Round Pick
In for the Oilers
2x2nd Round Picks
3rd Round Pick
4th Round Pick
Scrivens 3yrs $6M
Ott 4yrs $17M
Fidler 2yrs $2M
So, just a "bit" of change for the Oilers.
Hemsky to Penguins for 2014 2nd & 2014 3rd
Smyth to Kings for 2014 4th
N. Schultz to Coyotes for 2014 4th
Bryzgalov to Canadiens for 3rd (Budaj gets injured)
Judging by the OP's guidelines we don't have to specify whether salary will be retained on a player, so I won't bother.
Hemsky to PIT for 2015 2nd.
Gagner to NSH for Wilson.
Jones to MTL for a 5th.
Smyth to ANH for a 5th.
Ales Hemsky (50% retained) to Pittsburgh for a 2nd round pick and 4th round pick in 2014
Ryan Jones to Phoenix for a 6th round pick in 2014.
Ryan Smyth to Columbus for a 5th round pick in 2014.
Nick Schultz to Boston for a 4th round pick in 2014.
Hemsky & Nick Schultz to Ottawa for Mike Hoffman and a 3rd round pick
Bryz to Minny for Gustav Olofsson
Jones to Pittsburgh for a 4th round pick
Corey Potter to Boston for 5th round pick
No Gagner trade until the draft. I will post my draft day trades in the "Draft Day trade prediction thread" that will inevitably pop up in June.
Hemsky to Boston after David Krejci demands it from Chiarelli.
