Vladimir Orszagh
The "O" in the Preds "Vowell" line tore up a knee. ACL and MCL. He's had surgery. He's at least 10 months out, and, frankly, may never play at a high level again. He is unsigned and unrestricted. He was about to become at least a minor star in the league before the lockout. I was impressed with his play the last couple of years. The Preds have decided to let him dangle.

For the minimum the Kings could offer him the the minimum on a 1 year contract and a team option for a second and third all at minimum with some bonus action. We obtain the rights for $450K (counts against the cap) and he gets paid to rehab. We let the option lapse if he is not ready to play NHL stlye next year. Boom or bust. Little risk on the bust side. Decent upside. A deal with a heart.

Not only that but(if I know the new CBA right) whoever "replaces" him on the roster won't count against the cap

I've been a fan of Orszagh's for awhile now. A 20 goal scorer who bangs and still plays on the 3rd line? At least take a chance on him.

He had good numbers playing in Europe last year.

I'd be surprised if nobody picks him up for the minimum plus incentives.
