Thornton resigned? He stepped down from his position with the Bruins? That's not good. I was really hoping he would re-sign.

Yeah, but its a typical Boston move to pay him to resign. What a bunch of idiots.

Luigi Lemieux 08-11-2005 02:56 PM

i was hoping that in this cba 7 mill contracts would be reserved for art ross, vezina, conn smythe, hart trophy, norris winners or big time playoff performers. thornton should be making 5-6M.

Big McLargehuge 08-11-2005 02:57 PM

re-signed

resigned is to retire...re-sign is to sign a new contract...it's not that hard people!

BrentZ10 08-11-2005 03:00 PM

Wow, I didn't realize forgetting a "-" would be the focus of the thread as opposed to someone signing a contract. :shakehead And if you really want to get technical, resign is to quit, not retire. :shakehead

Good move by Boston. I didn't think Joe wanted 5 years because the outcome of this CBA is still in question.

3 years should be a good amount of time for things to settle and for the CBA to begin to roll in full motion.

Boston will have a great team for at least 3 years. Depending on the cap situations, which I don't think anything should drastically change much.

some of us use logic. no need to be anal. yeah, "Joe Thornton resigns from being an NHL player." It doesn't even make sense. I guess you are the only one who would be confused.

Safir* 08-11-2005 03:00 PM

Playing in Switzerland pays off, eh?

Honestly, is anyone worth 7 million now? ... I had hoped Iginla was going to get less but his contract has set the bar now. Yes, Iginla carries the team on his back, so he deserves to be the highest paid post-CBA-contract player, but as has been said many times on this forum, the more money you give to one player, the less money there is for the rest of the team.

His salary is 6.66/yr? Coincidence?! I THINK NOT!

Original6 08-11-2005 03:02 PM

Just heard it on the fan590. Kudos to the bruins.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, this does nothing to disspell the last one.
