a starting goaltender for the canucks

Like tsn says luongo traded to the panthers and i dont think jacob markstrom is ready for the nhl until next season i wonder what will it cost to get us a starting goalie for this season? i also dont think eddie lack is ready to be our starting goalie

AlainVigneaultsGum 03-04-2014 04:13 PM

We already have one.

IonizedCookie 03-04-2014 04:13 PM

Eddie Lack?

RewBicks 03-04-2014 04:13 PM

The reason that Luongo is now dispensable is that Lack is better than him at this point in their careers, that much has become clear over the course of the season. Markstrom will back him up. The guy is 6th in the league in sv% for crying out loud.

Voracek 03-04-2014 04:13 PM

Eddie Lack is our starting goaltender.

Go ahead and laugh while he tears it up in the NHL.

Cam Ward's available. Cheap.:sarcasm:

All offers considered. No price too low.

StrongIslanders90 03-04-2014 04:14 PM

Nabokov for Lack. Lol

The Pucks 03-04-2014 04:14 PM

i just dont think eddie lack is ready for a starter and neither is jacob markstrom look at his states in the nhl we need a real starting goalie this season to make the playoffs

Stephen 03-04-2014 04:15 PM

Markstrom and Lack and Eriksson in the system. So Swede!

voxel 03-04-2014 04:15 PM

Lack is fine. Been a fan of his for a while.

What about his performance this year has suggested he's unprepared? He's been groomed exactly the same way that Schneider was, and has had a very similar AHL career. He is a better goalie than either of Luongo or Markstrom at this point, that much is completely clear.

Luck 6 03-04-2014 04:18 PM

I've always said, Lack will be better than Schneider. I hope I was right, so far he's off to an impressive start. He is our starter.

njdevils6 03-04-2014 04:18 PM

Devis have an extra goalie if you need

TatarTangle 03-04-2014 04:19 PM

Lack is the real deal. This, coming from a Detroit fan.

He might be. It's still a big gamble, especially if the Canucks aren't looking to rebuild.

doglover8891 03-04-2014 04:21 PM

lack isnt ready yet he is good as a backup and markstrom needs to be groomed in the ahl look at his stats

schickster 03-04-2014 04:23 PM

Halak ?

bobbyflex 03-04-2014 04:24 PM

Reimer for Markstrom and Tanev

canadianmagpie 03-04-2014 04:24 PM

Lack is a solid goalie, his record should be a lot better if the Canucks could actually score. His numbers are 1.23 with a .949 save percentage in his last four games.... he's lost three and the one he won, he had a shutout. He's riding a 2.09 GAA and .924 SV% for the season. He's earned a shot at the starting job for the rest of the year.

I don't think that we'll be in the hunt for a starting goalie, we might pick up someone like Halak if the asking price drops to a 4th so we have a bit more coverage. But it will be interesting to see if Markstrom can impress behind a better blueline than he had in Florida. Either way, we've dropped from tying up $10 million in goalies to about $2.5 million. Should be interesting to see how they spend the difference.
