Michael Bournival sent down on conditioning stint

Per RDS text alert.

Guess this means he's healthy and ready to play, which is good news.

Smoky Thompson 03-17-2014 11:20 AM

For a conditioning stint or is there just no space in the lineup for him?

Scotianhab 03-17-2014 11:21 AM

He'll be back for the playoffs. We have so many bodies I figured he would get sent down when he became healthy.

Chris Cutter 03-17-2014 11:21 AM

Not surprised by this, he was the odd man out due to a variety of reasons (waiver status, experience, handedness, role).

Guess 03-17-2014 11:22 AM

Is he bring sent down for conditioning? He is clearly better than some players in the lineup.

To my knowledge, conditioning stints are only for players who would otherwise need to clear waivers to play in the AHL.

I wouldn't say 'Some' but i'd much rather have him on the ice than Moen.

Just checked Twitter and a few reporters are calling it a 3 game conditioning stint.

Well Parros and Bourque weren't in the line-up the last couple of games.
I can't imagine whom else you think is behind him.

Still with his very promising start, go ahead and pump him all you want.
You'll probably be right soon. We all hope so.;)

habsprospects 03-17-2014 11:31 AM

Even if he is not waivers eligible, he needed to be added to the Bulldogs roster before the trade deadline to be eligible for the remaining of the AHL season.

Dirty Danglez 03-17-2014 11:33 AM

Even with Bournival sent down... doesn't this team have 24 players? Aren't they allowed to have only 23 up with the club?

Lets say we go with last nights lineup and bournival sent down... doesn't this team have 4 healthy extra skaters in Bourque White Parros and Murray?

nilan30 03-17-2014 11:40 AM

I believe after the trade deadline there is no roster limit as long as you are under the cap

Valuable info there, thanks. I guess we'll see when/if the Habs call up to really know for sure if he's there for conditioning or for good.

After the trade deadline, the NHL roster has no limit. I believe the only limit would be the NHL contract limit, which I think is 50 or so. So you technically can have 50 players on an NHL roster after the trade deadline.

Blind Gardien 03-17-2014 11:44 AM

He might as well be playing. Habs seem to have the right forward mix atm, so sending him down to play is the right call.

Thanks guys!

The dogs website says it is indeed for a conditioning stint.

Time to read the RDS comments, bunch of people that don't understand what a conditioning stint is.

Conditioning.

#Habs Bournival headed to Bulldogs for conditioning #HabsIO

Kobe Armstrong 03-17-2014 12:43 PM

Pacioretty-DD-Vanek
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Bournival-Pleks-Briere

any combo of White, Weise, Moen, Prust, Borque

FlyingKostitsyn 03-17-2014 12:44 PM

I really like Bourny but he should have spent most of the season on Hamilton imho.

Kobe Armstrong 03-17-2014 12:44 PM

forgot Gionta, that throws off the whole lineup

habitue* 03-17-2014 12:46 PM

He will be back for the playoffs, for sure. I hope he scores some for Hamilton and get his game back.

Right now, the line up is filled with players with more NHL experience. Let's live or die with them.

Not me, Moen has played he's role perfectly, doing all the small things, Reliable defensively, good a long the boards and get's the puck out of he's own end. He also has a tone of playoff experience, exactly the type of player you want on your 4th line.

BigHabs 03-17-2014 01:43 PM

Even with him down for conditioning stint. Lets say he comes back.

How do we fit everyone in?

Pacioretty Desharnais Vanek
Galchenyuk Eller Gallagher
Briere Plekanec Gionta
Moen Prust Weise
Bourque White Parros
Bournival

Gorges Subban
Markov Emelin
Murray Tinordi
Weaver Bouillon

Price
Tokarski
Budaj

With Gorges and Bournival both now out as it is... They still have 25 players up which includes the 3 goalies.

How are so many guys up at once?
