Max Pacioretty appreciation

His next goal will be #100! Two time 30 goal scorer! He has developed into a great player!
Signed for another 5 years at a great price!
Will he ever score 50 in one season? Seeing wear the "A" makes me think he could be the next captain!

Nope he is not a 50 goals scorer. He doesnt have this in him.

I love him though but I'll be 100% happy with him scoring 35 goals/year for his contract

Smoky Thompson 03-23-2014 09:54 AM

I love that he's been playing on the PK. I really want Patches to become a reliable two way player that scores 30 goals 60 points while playing vs top lines.

I'm thinking Patrick Sharp.

He won't ever hit 50 goals. He may hit 40 once or twice. I dont see him as captain material though. Not yet anyways.

That's a good parallel but I'd be (happily) surprised to see him reach Sharp's level defensively

It'll be hard but he has time and drive to do it.

habtastic 03-23-2014 09:59 AM

He's looking so much better than when he would put up goals, but it wasn't that impressive of an overall performance. He really looks awesome out there now and I have to say, I love the way him, DD and Vanek are playing. Reminds me of the Cole days (good ones), just more East-West goodness.

Teufelsdreck 03-23-2014 09:59 AM

In some ways Max is underestimated. IMO Galchenyuk ultimately may record more points than Max but he won't match him as a pure goal scorer. It reminds me of the difference between Jean Béliveau and Maurice Richard.

Nicko999 03-23-2014 09:29 PM

Even with Vanek's acquisition, Pacioretty remains our best forward.

Hopefully Galchenyuk is able to match his offensive production one day.

After his slow start Max will win the points leader on Habs (likely).

Yes, he will hit 40+ goals in an upcoming season.

Only Stamkos & Ovechkin seem to be capable of hitting 50 in the modern NHL... so far at least.

This league is way different from the 80's.

I do see some parallel if we get Vanek signed.

Vanek = Hossa
Pacioretty = Sharp
Galchenyuk = Toews

Maybe we can compare Pacioretty and Sharp but that's about it.:laugh:

No no no no. Back on topic though when Max moves his feet and skates he's a force of nature. Goal scoring aside he's also our best forechecker when he's in the mood. No one on this team can match his combination of speed, size and strength.

Hossa does not float like Vanek and is a savvy two-way force with a helluva lot of speed.

Galchenyuk is fairly strong like Toews, but is more of a disher than a goal scoring force and has slicker hands.

Patches has gotta practice stick handling though...love him to death!

Some players have it, some dont. Patches isn't a dangler. He's got reach, speed and a quick release... that combination makes him dangerous enough

Some of you need to take a breather. This is one of those bookmark threads for a few months down the line when you want to shame someone.
Well said :laugh:

He's similar to Kulemin, when Kulemin used to be good.

Lol what a ridiculous thread! Can't believe people calling him a 20/20 guy. :shakehead

Quote:

to me max pac game is not complete enough to be a perennial 30/30 guy.

he might reach that in the very best conditions (remains healthy, gets his ''best'' game back, and regains chemistry).

He lacks finish/vision to be that guy. he's a 20/20 guy with the chance of being 30/30 if everything falls in place.

some guys (very few) in the league can be 30/30 on their average season.. He's not that guy. He's 30/30 at the very best case scenario.

ZARTONK 03-24-2014 12:57 PM

I appreciate him.

I don't usually like promoting my own posts, but I really did enjoy pointing out that many in that thread would be eating crow when maxpac leads us in goals 1-2 months down the line. What was even more hilarious is that it only took something stupid like 1.5 weeks for him to do it :laugh:

Sorta like the clowns who dismissed DD as a minor leaguer during his miserable drought and now he's second to only maxpac in forward scoring:laugh:

Pacioretty is a bonafide sniper. I think he's always going to frustrate many of us with his lack of physical play. I want him to play more in the mold of true power forward. But, for whatever reasons, he won't.

All in all, a consistent 35 goal scorer is golden in this scoring-deprived Bettman Era hockey.
