Goumas signed? The Flyers didn't confirm it, but it appears they have signed free-agent Kevin Goumas, a high-scoring forward from the University of New Hampshire.

On Twitter, Goumas thanked friends who had congratulated him for signing with the Flyers.

Chris Pryor, the Flyers' scouting director, could not be reached Tuesday night.

The 5-10, 160-pound Goumas had 19 goals and 52 points in 40 games this season.

UNH's leading scorer the last two years.

tymed 03-26-2014 01:31 AM

He needs to eat a few (dozen) cheesesteaks.

GoneFullHextall 03-26-2014 02:22 AM

hopefully it works out better then the last UNH kid they signed as a FA Blake Kessel.

Cant see him starting out anywhere but ADK next season. really soft hands, skates well(obviously he would need to with him being small) is ok defensively.
not much risk here at all. but like I said he should be in the AHL next season and will hopefully be in a offseason conditioning program to get him used to the longer season and a much more physical league then he is used to

What i like is how consistent of a scorer he is. You see a lot of college one hit wonders who get a nice contract. Nice to see an offensively talented guy who has been always this talented to score.

I assume you get to watch this guy a lot because of your location? If so, could you give us some insight of what he might be able to be at the next level?

I always get excited when I see Homer snagged a highly touted college FA. Sure, he may not hit, but Homer's certainly got a good track record.

Curufinwe 03-26-2014 08:22 AM

Is he a winger or a center?

I am pretty sure he's a center.

According to eliteprospects he's a left winger.

DrinkFightFlyers 03-26-2014 08:35 AM

So is he Stephane Da Costa or Matt Read?

Striiker 03-26-2014 08:37 AM

I think I read he plays both LW and C

RussianRocket10 03-26-2014 08:44 AM

5'10 160? Wow that's pretty small. :amazed:

Being that he is a forward (and sounds like a winger), I'm not too concerned with his size. He could be a sneaky kind of player like a Danny Briere. He's going to have to put on some weight, but I'm not as concerned for this guy as I am for Ghost, though my concerns with Ghost have been somewhat scaled back after someone pointed out a number of guys, a lot more than I had thoguht, that were his size or smaller that are decent defenders.

Hiesenberg 03-26-2014 09:35 AM

I hope this kid can fly being 160.

sa cyred 03-26-2014 09:59 AM

Must remember height and weight on elite prospects are typically old. Sometimes it is when they are 16/17 yrs old and is not always updated. Not saying he got bigger but there is a difference between a 16/17 yr old and a 22 yr old.

DrinkFightFlyers 03-26-2014 10:07 AM

Isn't there a dude on here who is a huge UNH fan. Let's get some insight on this kid!

Here's a small sampling of Kevin Goumas' play this season at UNH (#27):

ive seen him play a few games, hes pretty small but jfc can he turn on the jets and make some nice plays at top speed

jd2210 03-26-2014 11:09 AM

Even if he can score at the AHL level I'm happy. We need those guys too.

SolidSnakeUS 03-26-2014 11:26 AM

Should be fun. But ******* the guy needs to bulk up at least 15 to 20 pounds.

bennysflyers16 03-26-2014 11:27 AM

If we are adding wingers who are lightning fast and highly skilled, I am happy. That being said, I know nothing about this guy !!

Exactly, especially since he's a LW.

He primarily played first-line center for UNH this season. He's periodically played left wing but, at this stage in his career, is more effective as a play-maker.
