Anson Carter to Vancouver

Anson Carter to Vancouver as reported by their Flagship station CKNW

BrentZ10 08-16-2005 11:11 PM

Good, this ends rumours of him coming to TO.

Scoogs 08-16-2005 11:12 PM

Thank The Lord.. This makes me a little happier after the Mogilny departure.

HuskyFlames 08-16-2005 11:17 PM

AHAHA. Mickey Mouse to play in Vancouver.

Seachd 08-16-2005 11:17 PM

If he gets more than $1 million, I will be amazed. Not that he can't turn it around, but he doesn't deserve it.

BrentZ10 08-16-2005 11:19 PM

1 year, 1 million. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=133726&hubName=nhl

I'm actually excited. While the guy was terrible last season, it's not his typical production. Assuming he's with the Sedins, he'll probably get a 40+ pts season.

Is much more solid than forward lineups the Canucks have put out in the past few seasons.

Now, to get that 5th or 6th d-man signed.

bcrt2000 08-16-2005 11:27 PM

from a rangers fan: have fun with carter, lol

hockeyfan125 08-16-2005 11:34 PM

1 million
me likes :)

God Bless Canada 08-16-2005 11:37 PM

If his head's on straight, it's a great signing. He's the potential finisher that could mesh well with the Sedins, and he's not afraid to get involved physically. Terrific speed. The big concern is his drive. If it's not there, Canucks just blew $1 million they can't afford to lose.

Le Golie 08-16-2005 11:39 PM

neg marron is going to be so happy.

There is nothing physical about Anson's game whatsoever. This from an Oiler fan who watched him at his best.

FacelessButcher 08-16-2005 11:43 PM

If Anson has hockey back to his no.1 priority this should be a great deal for the Nucks. If anyone is wondering why he just seemed to be a whole lot worse playing for the Rags/Caps/Kings then his previous stint on the Oil I'm fairly certain this is why- Big Up Entertainment

Le Tricolore 08-16-2005 11:44 PM

good signing, especially if you consider the price.

HeadInjury 08-16-2005 11:46 PM

Hi Vancouver Fans,

Get ready for a lot of Anson jokes involving cell phones.

PapaBear* 08-16-2005 11:52 PM

this guys a sexy beast ;)

monster_bertuzzi 08-17-2005 12:19 AM

Solid signing for us. Former 60 point scorer that just needs some motivation.

Anson wasn't at his best with the Oilers. He was at his best with Team Canada in 1997, when he did get involved physically, and his play in 2003 with Canada was better than he ever played in the NHL.

They don't have to worry about anything. He's leaving the Rangers, so he'll be good again!

punk_o_holic 08-17-2005 01:03 AM

Now I could be way off but I think you have to motivate him to do good.
Didn't AC do good just before team Canada were to annouce there tryout roster for the olympics couple of years ago in EDM but when he didn't make it he started to do bad. Now with him only get a million and because its a 1 year deal and this season could determine his future in the NHL, this might motivate him to do well.
I say 23goals 28 assists for a total of 51 points only if he plays at least 70 games.

kingbrath 08-17-2005 01:32 AM

Well, the Kings dont have Anson, but now we have Bure...I dont know what to think :dunno:

orcatown 08-17-2005 01:35 AM

Nonis is obviously taking the NHL at its word. He is dumping all the non skaters - Malik, May, and (to an extent) Sopel and picking up all skaters. - Park, Carter and in the draft Bourdon and Raymond. Hope he is guessing right

Did you just call Carter a skater? :biglaugh:

Good luck with this bum - he is not worth a minimum wage in monopoly money. I am glad he ended up with our Conference rivals - makes it easier for us.

Fictional Realism 08-17-2005 02:20 AM

This signing is going to be seen as very underrated during the season in my opinion. Carter had one off year after the trade away from Edmonton threw him off his game, and he never quite got his comfort level back. Coming to Vancouver could really assist in turning his game around, and if he clicks with the Sedins it could prove a very astute acquisition. Heck, Brad May was paid $1 mill a year last year, so I'm not too worried about paying Carter that much. The Canucks will still be comfortably under the cap, with probably enough room to fill out the defense with someone to play on the bottom pairing.

Carter is going to make a lot of people eat crow this season.

Reaper45 08-17-2005 02:23 AM

Good luck detaching Anson's cell phone from his head.

He's a big time rap producer now.
