USA u-20 camp
I was wondering if someone could help me out here. Do the Americans hold a tryout camp(similar to the one team Canada holds to select their players) in December right before they leave for the tournament in Finland? Or is it done differently? If they do does anyone have any info as to when it starts and ends? I tried the USAhockey official site, but couldnt find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The US has one camp that takes place in early August each year. This year's camp featured a series of games against two select teams from Finland and Sweden. The US players were split into two squads (blue and white). Each of these teams played the two European teams twice (four games for each team involved). Both of the US squads had strong showings and finished with better records than the Europeans. I can't find the stats that were posted on the usahockey website during the summer but I found one press release in the archives....
The team will be picked without any other camps. It should be quite a strong team seeing as there is enough depth to have two teams that were good enough to beat the Finnish and Swedish teams. There were a couple games against Sweden where the USA Blue squad dominated.
Edit: Just remembered there were some releases by eliteprospects.com that recounted the Swedish games....
They are listed as U-20 S-Challenge
Edit2: Here are the results from the Finnish games....
