Amonte Questions

Hey all.

Could you tell me, did Tony play LW at all in Philly? He has a left hand shot and I wondered how effective he would be there. Also, I know he tends to shoot high and wide on net, what are his playmaking skills like?

Thanks

That doesn't sound too promising. A lot of Flames fans have talked about him playing on the left side.

Well, he lined up at RW, but he couldn't play that either. Get ready for a lot of posts to be hit.

A lot of logos, too.

Sorry Flames fans but get ready for some disappointment over Tony A. He skates around all fast and looks really cool but he doesn't accomplish much. He won't go into high traffic areas or take a hit. He's too small to hit, but watch him repeatedly run up against guys and 'nearly' hit them. It's always good for a laugh.

He stands to be the worst acquisition by the Flames, unless Sutter performs a miracle.

I still can't believe Calgary wanted him. I could be as bad as Antonio, for one tenth of the money. :shakehead

Ya gotta know I hope you guys are wrong. LOL
I know Sutter has squeezed a lot out of him before. Gonna have to keep my fingers crossed.

:help:

A more offensive system might do him good, but I'm not convinced he'll hit 60 points again in his career. 20 goals, 50 points would be solid for him with the he's looked over the last few seasons.

So I take it you are banking on him to regain his accuracy?

Amone is a nice player at this stage. Expect 50-odd points from him and anything higher than that is a bonus.

Actually, his shooting percentage was 11.6% in 2003/04. He was the fifth most accurate on the Flyer squad. That isnt really bad at all. 2002/03 he was down around 9.7 but he took a lot of shots. He may be getting a bad rap by some.

I don't think hit posts count towards accuracy, which is kind of funny actually.

The funny thing is I distinctly remember Amonte a TON of shots from the slot, he seems to find that area very well. Unfortunately, he shoots like Ray Charles.

I only remember him becoming more and more invisible the deeper we went into the playoffs.
