Team lines

With Heater out and Petro, Aubin coming in would it be fairly accurate that the lines look like this:

Kozlov - Savard - McEachern
Piros - Stefan - Kovalchuk
Santala - Robitaille - Petrovicky
Cowan - Aubin - Lessard

Sutton - Majesky
Exelby - Tremblay
Tamer - Kaberle

Nurminen - Hurme/Dafoe

Extras: Tjarnqvist, Vigier

I've go no idea who going to replace Heatley at the point on the PP. Can Santala or Robitaille possibly do this role or will they scratch Tamer instead of Tjarnqvist and get him to play the point. Aubin is a very good pickup for the PK unit.

PP1 Kozlov - Savard - Kovalchuk - ??? - Trembaly
PP2 Piros - Stefan - McEachern - Sutton - Kaberle

PK1 McEachern - Stefan - Sutton - Majesky
PK2 Cowan - Aubin - Exelby/Tamer - Kaberle

or it could look like:

Ilya Kovalchuk - Marc Savard - *Kamil Piros
Vyacheslav Kozlov - Patrik Stefan - Shawn McEachern
Ronald Petrovicky - *Tommi Santala - *Jean-Pierre Vigier
Serge Aubin - Randy Robitaille - *Francis Lessard

Daniel Tjärnqvist - Ivan Majesky
Frantisek Kaberle - Yannick Tremblay
Andy Sutton - *Garnet Exelby

Byron Dafoe
Pasi Nurminen

Scratches: Jeff Cowan, Chris Tamer and Jani Hurme.

Tjarnqvist hasnt played in the last two preseason game, him being the only scratch, he is certainly not on the top pairing.

Kozlov-Savard-McEachern
Kovalchuk-Stefan-Piros
Vigier-Santala-Robitaille
Petrovicky-Aubin-Cowan

Sutton-Kaberle
Majesky-Exelby
Tremblay-Tamer

Nurminen
Dafoe
Hurme
Scratches: Lessard, Tjarnqvist

Ilya seems to be the one to replace Heater on the point.

Holly can correct me if Im wrong, but this seems to be the PP lines from Friday, and after that showing, I have no problems with them, even if it was against the Preds.

PP Lines:

Robitaille-Savard-Kozlov
Kovalchuk-Kaberle

Santala-Stefan-Piros
Kovalchuk-Tremblay

Vincent Vega 10-05-2003 05:57 AM

Kovalchuk - Stefan - McEachern
Kozlov - Savard - Piros
Petrovicky - Santala - Vigier
Aubin - Robitaille - Lessard

Sutton - Majesky
Exelby - Tremblay
Tamer - Kaberle

Nurminen
Dafoe

What teams are in need of a goalie like Hurme? The Oilers might be interested and I am sure that Florida would love him back. From those teams I am not sure you would get the scoring winger you are seeking however.

I think Kozlov was actually running the PP before he left in the 1st with a hand injury. Ilya could be a liability at the PPQB spot, but then again so is Tremblay. It could be a good time to really see just how great a playmaker Ilya is.

Yea, he will be a liability, but he will learn just like Heater had to. Everytime Ilya pinched or jumped up, Savvy was usually back to cover for him. He was all over it, and going 50% on the PP with him on the point isnt bad.

I don't think so, not according to my notes.

Don't forget Sutton on the PP as well. He's got a great shot. Kaberle has always played on the 2nd unit, and he's good because he keeps the puck in and has great vision, but he needs to shoot more.

Ilya at the point scares the bejezus out of me, but I know it's probably a necessary evil.

I wouldn't take a lot of comfort in anyone's stats from Friday. I thought Nashville looked horrible, not a good test.

Nashville did look horrible, but the puck movement on the PP looked pretty good. Nice give and go with Savard and Robitaille.

So would you guys say Piros is a definite starter? He is one of my favorite players and I think he proved it this preseason.

No question about it, hes earned it, and now with Heater out a definite top two line player.

Second line with Kovalchuk. That is with out Heatley as Heatley will be out 6 months probably with the Torn ACL, MCL and Lateral Meniscus (sp)...1st/2nd PP unit.
