Top 5 GOAL SCORERS

Stick to players that you have seen play, yes I know Howie Morenz & Maurice Richard were great goal scorers, but if you didn't see them play, leave them of your list.

State your age and your list

I'll put mine in order soon, but there are 5 that clearly stand out since I've been watching hockey. I'm 28.

Gretzky
Lemieux
Brett Hull
Bossy
Bure

Gee Wally 10-06-2003 08:10 AM

not nessesarly in that order.

If you're 20 then you never really saw any of those 5 when they were big time goal scorers.

You never saw Orr, Richard or Esposito ever play.
Bossy was pretty much finihsed by the time you were 5.
Gretzky's big goal scoring years were also over by the time you were about 6 or 7.

Just because I didn't see them live didn't mean I didn't see old games. Games were recorded, I saw old tapes. Unless you're talking about players I've seen the most, in which case I would leave Richard, Orr and Esposito off my list. I saw plenty of Gretzky tape.

I shouldn't be posting here since I'm only 18 but this should be somewhat controversial. :)

1. Bure
2. Lemieux
3. Jagr
4. Gretzky
5. Kovalchuk <- shows my real lack of experiance or age.

brianscot 10-12-2003 04:32 AM

im 42.

1.) Mike Bossy - still the best shooter ever.
2.). Wayne Gretzky.
3.) Mario Lemieux.
4.) Brett Hull.
5.) Guy Lafleur.

22

Bossy
Brett Hull
Lemieux
Espo
Kurri

With an honorable mention to Mike Gartner

Hossa 10-12-2003 05:52 PM

Ok, I'm only 18, so my list is pretty limited.

In a general but not rigid order:

Wayne Gretzky
Mario Lemieux
Brett Hull
Pavel Bure
Mike Gartner

A few other guys come to mind, including Jagr, Robitaille and Bondra, but Bure is the best goal scorer of his era (which does not include the other four guys listed). Gartner scored 700 goals. Not as beautifully as Bure or elegantly as Gretzky, but 700 goals is 700 goals.

Histrion 10-18-2003 07:00 AM

I won't make any list since I'm only 17, but... how can anyone make a list without Lemieux? He's arguably the best goalscorer ever..

PK* 10-18-2003 07:24 AM

I'm 16.

1. Mario Lemieux
2. Pavel Bure
3. Brett Hull
4. Wayne Gretzky
5. Markus Naslund

KillToronto 10-18-2003 07:30 AM

I'm 19:

1. Bobby Hull
2. Wayne Gretzky
3. Rocket Richard
4. Mario Lemieux
5. Guy LaFleur.

Vatican Roulette 10-18-2003 12:38 PM

didjuicythat 10-18-2003 12:47 PM

I'm 17.

1. Mike Bossy
2. Mario Lemieux
3. Brett Hull
4. Maurice Richard
5. Guy Lafleur

I guess I'm not the most reliable opinion, though.

You can only take player you were born to say play, so I guess you wouldn't quite remember Bossy, Richard and Lafleur. :D

Who cares? The guy wanted everyone's opinion. At least, I tried giving mine, and I don't care what people can say. I only base what I post and what I've read, seen and heard about those guys in the past. As for Bossy, he's on my list because I met him a couple of times, and had the opportunity to see him play in a old timers game. Even at his age, he was the real deal. :rolly:

BlackJack21 10-31-2003 05:03 PM

Honorable Lafleur, Bure, Kovalchuck (should be there but not proven enough)...

jiggs 10 10-31-2003 09:30 PM

I forgot to add to this guy to my list, so I'll do it now:

Pierre Larouche.

The guy was magic. Great hands. Only maybe Mario and Denis Savard could make the puck dance like this guy. Had he scored 2 more goals for the Rangers one year, he'd be the only player EVER to score 50 goals in a season for 3 different teams!
