Sports Illustrated Pre-season rankings.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/hoc...uting.reports/

They have the Kings finishing 24th in the league. Which is a contradiction of what is said in the Kings individual team report.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/hoc...rts/kings.html

There they say the team will be better than 2003-04.

How is the team better but finishes 4 spots lower in the standings?

Now 8 out of 9 prediction say that the king will not make the playoff....

Old Hickory 09-30-2005 01:03 PM

I will stick with the Vegas Odds which have us doing quite well.

Besides all of these experts are always wrong. No one outside of Tampa had the Bolts winning last year, nor did they have Calgary representing the West in the SCF

Moll 09-30-2005 01:04 PM

for calgary your right...nobody saw this coming....but tampa wasn't a surprise....people knew they had one of the best team in the league...

If they had any kind of reasoning to back it up I might not find these "experts" opinions so outrageous. But how to do you say a team will be better than they were last season but that they will finish lower in the standings. That is just stupid.

Another thing I found funny is that on the Kings scouting report they say the new rules will not be a factor for this team. But the the new rules are almost perfect for a team like LA who has alot of speedy forwards.:shakehead

I find the sports illustrated rankings a bit outta wack. I honestly cannot see the flames winning the cup over the senators. Also I think LAs a bit low, I'm still undecided as to whether or not they make the playoffs this year but hell in a few years WATCH OUT.

Please stop listening to SI or to idiots like Darran Pang!!! He thinks every goaltender is the greatest thing ever!

I can't wait to hear his high pitched voice crack and scream during the playoffs when the Garon pitches a shutout. Then he will say he knew the Kings were great all along, like most hockey personalities. (NOT Melrose of course  )

I trust the Vegas odds of 15:1 the Kings winning the Cup more. Judging by the size of Casinos they tend to be correct!

Lets play the games :handclap:

You do realize that the more Kings fans bet on the Kings to win the cup, the smaller those odds go, right? You don't think the casinos know that in October a bunch of drunk kings fans would be descending upon Las Vegas?

Ok ok, those odds makers at MGM had you at 10-1 because of solid goaltending and defense and your dynamic offense. It had nothing to do with the fact that a bunch of Kings fans were making the trip to Vegas and that when a lot of people bet on something (such as a $20 bet on the Kings winning the cup at 15-1) that the line will suddenly shift.

Actually, that does make sense. You're not taking into account that (in the eyes of SI) other teams have improved more than the Kings have. So under this logic, the Kings have a better team than they did last year, but they will finish lower because other teams have improved more than the Kings have.

BTW, I disagree with SI...I think we have improved much more than most other teams.
