Claude Lemieux is an UFA

This should make alot of interesting rumours.

Oh, source.

Some poster claims he got it from the Dallas Morning Herald.

Ya, I read that as well. Don't think he will even appear on the habs radar mind you.
I could see Colorado, New Jersey, Philly, Detroit, or someone like that giving him a one year contract though.

Alot of Dallas fans believe he is more of a problem now, than a solution....I think his career is pretty much over. Good luck on the links!

might go to a team in need of a veteran presence come playoff time, other than that, his career is basically over. He isn't close to what he used to be. He should just retire and put his career to an end, even though it's too late to go out on his own terms.

If PEPE would consider about 500K, the Wild maybe a good home for him.

He had offseason surgury on his groin, and then was bothered by it again in training camp this season. His long-term health is probably more of a concern than his skills. When healthy, he is a great pest, but those days are behind him now.

Also, Claude was always known as a playoff performer, until last year, when he only managed a single assist. Once again, it could have been the injury, but as the situation looks now, Claude will have lots of rehabilitation time for that groin. I;m sure that down the strech some teams will take a look at added him to their roster to add the wealth of playoff experience in his possession.

Who remembers his goal in OT vs Hartford in the 86 playoffs?

Sure, reunite the 1986 team. Sign Lemieux, Richer, and Keane and coax Brian Skrudland and Mike McPhee out of retirement. And while you're at it, sign Mats Naslund and Bobby Smith. Nah, forget it.

Last I check Keane will be centering a line between the Sedin's in Vancouver this year. Guess that little pipe dream is right out the window now!
