Shootouts and the stats

Not looking for yay or nay opinions on the shootout but I do have some questions because I have heard a few different answers on the shootout, boxscores, and stats.

Ottawa-Toronto Ocober 5th will be my example.

I looked at various websites, TSN, NHL.com, Fox, ESPN, ect. and the various boxscore reports for the OTT-TOR game differed. Some included the shootout while others did not.

I had heard on Leafs Lunch that the scorer of the game-winner in the shootout will be the only one credited with a goal for his personal stats. Only NHL.com credited Alfredsson with his third goal, the others all have Alfredsson at 2 goals. Anyone know anything about this? Also, if Alfredsson is credited with the shootout goal, does he get credited with the first hat trick of the season?

There is also a debate out there where Heatley should get the goal since it was his that 'clinched' the shootout for Ottawa even though, by definition, Alfredsson's was the game-winner.

i've heard that no shootout goals count toward stats for tenders or shooters...but the winning team gets a "goal for" if they win the shootout.

What site had boxscores that showed the Shootout stats?

Do you think no site will keep track of shootout stats in amongst the normal stats. As a fan I want to know who are the good shooters and who are the good goalies. It adds to the drama for each shootout.

I looked at so many sites, I don't remeber who had what. I beleive NHL.com and CBS included it in their play-by-play and Fox or CBS had it in the boxscores, some sites simply called the shootout 'OT2' and listed Ottawa with one goal. As for the SO-goal question, NHL.com gave Alfredsson 3 goals on the scoresheet, however, the league-wide standings have him down for two. Heatley was not shown to have scored a goal. As a matter of fact, the shootout wasn't on the official scoresheet on NHL.com.

I think my question has been answered here, Thanks.

I imagine it will take reporters and the AP a couple weeks to figure out how to report the stats. But I'm almost certain NMK is correct that the shootout goals are not supposed to count on individual stats at all.

I'm not sure whether or not the winning team in the shootout gets 1 goal or not in the "goal for" stat -- although that seems reasonable since the final score of the game is supposed to be reported as the winning team having scored 1 more goal (regardless of how many actually went in).

I think that one of the interesting statistics will be the pct of shoot out goals that are scored. I always assumed that it was about 40% on a penalty shot. It appears from watching pre season games that the number will be much lower.

Point 6, nothing in shootouts count towards personal stats
