Oilers in October

Well guys, a few interesting things about the Oil Schedule in October

9 Games
6 Home
3 Away
8 vs Western Conference
1 vs Eastern
6 vs Teams in the Northwest division
No games on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday or Friday (no back to back games).
Longest home stand is 3 games
Longest road trip is 2 games
4 games against teams that should finish higher than us.

My Prediciton?

Oilers go 3-2-2-2 for 10 points, scoring 27 goals, allowing 20.

Man, I look at this breakdown and think its one of the worst possible scenarios for the team. Why?

Well, for one I think that the Oilers are prone to lose more game this month given the recovering Smyth, York, Horcoff and Brewer plus the distraction and absence of MC. Therefore the fact taht they play 8 Western Conf. teams is bad, because each of those are 4 point games... especially against the NE division.

Secondly, I think if anything, a decent road trip would be a great thing for the team at this point. With so much focus from the fans and media on the Comrie situation, the powerplay and the overall makeup of the team - getting away and pretending this stuff isn;t there would be a great thing.
