12/13/05 GDT Detroit Vs. Atlanta (away)

:wings VS :thrashers

Starting goaltenders:
Chris Osgood (7-2-2, 0 SO, 2.89 GAA)
(most likely) Michael Garnett (4-7-2, 3.90)

Goal scoring leaders:
Brendan Shanahan 17 goals
Ilya Kovalchuk 19 goals

Point leaders:
Pavel Datsyuk 33 points
Marc Savard 42 points

This is going to be a tight game, a tough game, a quick game.
Atlanta is not be underestimated, despite their troubles with their goaltenders.
The Wings have to put it up a notch to win this one.
If they play like they played against the Devils or the Caps, it should be fine.

History is on our side: The Wings have never lost to Atlanta. (7-0)
Let's make it 8-0 !

I predict a 4-3 win !

Good Luck to Us All

ALF AmericanLionsFan 12-13-2005 11:18 AM

Zetterberg continues his hot streak. Two more goals. Hudler and Shanny. 3 -2 Wings

sarcastro 12-13-2005 11:26 AM

5-4 Wings

Williams, Samuelsson, Franzenstein (rrrrrr!), Lebda, Shanahan

Kozlov (3), Kovalchuk

Howard is getting the start, not Osgood. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/storie...870.xml&coll=1

Chris Osgood has won three games in a row, but because the Wings play on consecutive nights, Babcock will start rookie Jimmy Howard tonight in Atlanta and then play Osgood Thursday in Florida.

"We set this up a while back and it's worked out good here," Babcock said. "Ozzie held serve here, putting a little heat on Howie to make sure he has his A game tomorrow."

Well, that's not a bad idea of course.
Kinda figured that Babcock would split the duties in this busy week.

Go Howard !

TOPGUN 12-13-2005 11:59 AM

Always tough back-to-back games especially against a very good offensive team like Atlanta.

Howard gets the start, would like to see how Ozzy would handle games in a row...but ok.

I am going to say:

4 2 for the Wings

Zetterberg, Pasha, Hulder and Schneider

Fugu 12-13-2005 03:30 PM

5-2 Wings.

Atlanta will take a bunch of stupid penalties (hopefully). Oh yeah, that ******* Hartley always liked gooning it up against the Wings, so it is guaranteed some of it will get called!

Kovalchuk will look good since he will be trying to impress Dats. :)

Higgy4 12-13-2005 04:16 PM

For some reason, I sense a stinker from the Wings tonight.

5-3 Thrashers

Zetterberg, Cleary and Holmstrom for the Wings

Kovalchuk (2), DeVries, Savard and Kozzie for the Thrash.

It's because Lidstrom can't hope to contain Atlanta's offensive onslaught. And Schneider, being an offensive defenseman, isn't expected to play defense. Lebda to the rescue!!!

Datsyuk with 3 assists.

Zetterberg4Captain* 12-13-2005 06:18 PM

****! Already 1-0 on a damn Shorthanded goal to!!!!!!! Vigier (2) from Larsen (2). We're beinjg outshot 7-1 so far!

norrisnick 12-13-2005 06:34 PM

Way to take advantage of the 5on3 guys! Now you need to score a couple more PP goals to counter that shortie.

Zetterberg4Captain* 12-13-2005 06:34 PM

1-1 now! PP goal scored by Datsyuk (11) assisted by Shanahan (12) and Lidstrom (23).

ALF AmericanLionsFan 12-13-2005 06:46 PM

I love you Cheli, but DON'T DO THAT EVER AGAIN

Epsilon 12-13-2005 07:06 PM

Good game for Datsyuk so far.

Zetterberg4Captain* 12-13-2005 07:09 PM

****. Datsyuk (12) scores and then of course Howard has to let one in. Holik (7) with that goal. 3-2 Atlanta now. :(

Epsilon 12-13-2005 07:16 PM

Good lord. Oh well now that it's over hopefully this thing just turns into a shootout so that Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Kovalchuk can pile up a ton of points for me.

JonathanTwinkleToews 12-13-2005 07:18 PM

Osgood comes in and lets in 3 goals on 3 shots?

What in the world.......

ALF AmericanLionsFan 12-13-2005 07:18 PM
