This is a tough game to predict. The Flyers are coming off an OT win and the Canes are coming off of a bad loss to Ottawa. The Flyers have a shorter trip to Raleigh, but the Canes are going to be happy to be back home.

This one could be a high scoring affair as Niittymaki might be getting tired and Carolina is going with rookie Cam Ward.

Flyers lose 6-5.

No idea whos gonna win...

Rumors has it that Gagne-Forsberg aren't that happy with Hitch taking off Knuble all the time. Could become a problem off the ice too, and maybe is the source for why they have been off their game... :dunno:

Quote:

"Hey, it's the coach's decision. I go out and play," Forsberg said. "[Against Florida,] we weren't playing good at all. We were giving up a lot of scoring chances, three-on-two, two-on-one, in the first two periods, so I totally understand him. I hope I get to stay with those guys. They're great players and we've gone pretty good with them over the year."
Quote:

"I don't know if it's a good idea to do that," Gagne said. "Sometimes you don't agree with what the coach will do... . It's not like we've played bad over the last 10 games. We played very well against Ottawa.

Flyers win 4-3

Gagne, Therien (!!), Savage & Kapanen.

Yeah, well Ottawa is a week ago now

This will be a tough game that I hope they win so I donít have hear people say they canít keep up with a skating team like Carolina. That being said with the flu bug going around and who knows who it is going to hit next it may not be in their favor. They fell apart against this team the last time they played and looked very ugly doing it. Hopefully they play 60 minutes of quality hockey. I really want to know what Savage or his agent have on Hitchcock or Clarke to still warrant getting pp time and more minutes than other deserving players.

It sounds like the flu bug has been contained. I don't know if anyone caught this on the CSN broadcast, but Therien was put on the broadcasting team's bus to prevent the spread of the flu bug (BTW, didn't the team get flu shots???).

Savage did score a goal last night, so I don't think this is the right day to take a shot at him. If anyone has something on Hitch or Clarke it's Brashear.

Hopefully Sim is a healthy scratch again as well.

FlyHigh 12-29-2005 11:39 AM

I really want to see a Flyers win, but Carolina will come out angry after that loss against Ottawa, this will be a tough game, we'll need a big performance out of Niittymaki to have a chance.

caniacgirl12 12-29-2005 11:45 AM

Just an FWI, Cole left last nights game with about 5 min left in the 3rd with a hip/groin/somewhere in that area injury, so he is now questionable for tonights game. He is a tough guy though so he might still be playing tonight. I hope so because our Staal/Stillman/Cole line has been playing awesome.

And hopefully we do come out angry after last nights game.

Patient game is the key. No penalties. Same way we played yesterday. Forsberg against Staal. We can win this. I'd put Carter on PP with Forsberg and Gagne and use Kapanen on point.

For the record. I had that flu bag a day ago fever 105. No joke.

Dude, I hope you are feeling better.

As for the PP, I'm not in love with Kapanen on the point. I think it has the potential to lead to short-handed goals (like last night) when you don't have 2 defensemen on the pont.

I am ok. Thanks.

I didn't take any pills but went to the doctor and took antibiotics just in case 105 fever will last longer then a day. ;) With doctors attention that Flyers players are getting a player should be ok with in 14-16 hours in my case I felt a little weak next day. Not whining but letting everyone know what it feelt like.

As far as Kapanen playing on point, it can happen to almost anyone on our defense since Rico and Pitkanen are out. Maybe use Richards on point.

At the same time, Kapanen is no slouch on the backend. Don't forget who filled in during the last playoffs, and did a better job than some of the dmen this season are doing.

limited options and the PP has been struggling... obviously he won't be there when we get Pits and Rico back.

budscweizer16 12-29-2005 01:12 PM

5-4 Carolina

4-3 Flyers...I hope.

my issue with him isn't the shorties, it's the fact that he hardly ever shoots from the point.

Vikke 12-29-2005 01:33 PM

6-3 Flyers. :)

FlyersGuy69 12-29-2005 01:42 PM

this is a tuff game to call...its obvious, the Flyers have to play better tonight then they did last night and I think Carolina is going to be in a pissy mood from getting wooped on last night by the Sens.

the Flyers should be up for this game since the Hurricanes have been one of the top teams in the East(cant believe I just said that) all seson long.

I am really hoping that the Flyers take this game as they did the Ottawa games and come out with the pedal to the metal. if they do, we will win.

LET'S GO FLYERS! :yo:

BTW, another great job on the GDT Lion!

The Flyers are playing a good team, and for that reason will play at an elevated level and win easily. No score from me, just a win.

Philly will prob have to score a lot tonight in order to win.

6-5 philly

It's just how they play. When the competition is elite, so are the Flyers. And when the Flyers play at an elite level for 60 minutes, who can beat them?

Teezax 12-29-2005 06:03 PM

Another good game i'm going to miss tonight.
One thing that's been the pattern throughout this young season is that
the Flyers are finding ways to get points no matter how ugly they might play.
I expect much of the same here. If we do lose, it'll be in OT or shootout.
Doubt this one will be a high scoring affair, after the last debacle aginst the Canes.
The winner will win it 3-2.
Freddy Meyer will score the game winner, my 2 cents.
