2 Mont./Vancouver proposals
1- Vancouver: Theo.

Montreal: Auld

2- Vancouver: Zednick

Montreal: Salo

I would pass on both from a canucks POV.

I've argued already that Theodore doesn't have that much value, considering his disappointing play coupled with his contract. Bertuzzi has been on a tear recently - playing physical and inspired hockey... and Allen is key to our defense still - which is already weak past the top 4.

The 2nd trade makes even less sense. Salo has been huge for us this season - and is making only $1.5mill/yr and signed for next season as well. Our defense can't afford to lose him at all, let alone replace him with a guy like Dandenault.

Ribeiro is of no use to the canucks. We have Morrison and Henrik in the top 2 spots. What we need is a 3rd line center, not a guy like Ribeiro.... and where exactly would Zednik fit? He's not a 3rd liner, which is the perfect role for Cooke, and what we need. our top 2 line wing positions are set.

neither deal helps the canucks... and Theodore is just not a goalie I'd trade a whole lot for right now. He's a risk pickup - and for a risk pickup, considering his $$, not worth giving up a player like Bertuzzi for, who's really turned around his game the past couple months now.

The first is a bad trade for both teams, but particularly bad for the Canucks.
A team close to the cap can't afford a goalie with that contract, particularly when that goalie has significantly worse stats than our young, cheap incumbent (Auld).
And who would play goal for the Habs after the trade?
The second trade is ridiculously one-sided for les Habitants.

Theo won't be coming to Vancouver because the assets we would have to shed to get under the cap to afford Theo are much stronger assets than Theo is right now.

From a Habs point of view....yes to both!

Vancouver point of view....no to both!

Hell no to both, especially the second one....
