Good Bergeron story from K-Lowe

I noticed the Semenov thread has become a Bergeron thread so I thought I'd start a new Bergy one.

At the UofA game I spent two periods in the press box with Bryn Griffiths, Bob Stauffer and Kevin Lowe. The four of us talked, well I did a lot more listening than anything else, but K-Lowe recounted a pretty good story about how he first became to like Bergy.

As he told it... Kevin Prendergast insisted that he go see Bergeron play. I don't recall where it was or who it was against but that's not important to the story.

During this game, Bergeron and this massive guy form the other team had been picking at each other the whole game and it was clear that the other guy wanted to go, but there was a MAJOR weight difference and even Bergy knows his limits. So there's a faceoff in Bergy's own end and they line up across from each other (the guy was a winger) and they start jostling. The other guy sloo foots Bergy or something like that and really wants to get something going. Rather than drop the gloves and probably loose a lopsided scrap, Bergy gets another idea.

As soon as the puck drops, Bergy stomps on the guys stick blade and breaks it so he has to go back to the bench and is out of the play... Lowe says he loved the guy from that point on.

 Excellent story Guy. One of KLo's many gifts, is the ability to spot character. Another, is recognizing 'hockey smarts'. Bergie showed him, in one move, that he can 'think outside the box' and use his assets. I'm sure we can look forward to more 'unconventional' play from our evil hobbit. :D

ha ha, you gotta love Bergeron's attitude.
That guy is a sneaky little devil.

Watching MAB play I still cannot believe that he went undrafted.

damnit, he stole my move...I can't believe more people don't do that in front of the net...its such a good play.

I've said it before and I still beleive it. He plays like he owns the place and he's just letting everyone else skate around and play. He has confidence!

My thoughts exactly - he's not scared to try things.... to bad he Hemsky couldn't have been more like that last year!

That is BADASS. :D

I know he has his limitations, but how can you not love his attitude?

If Rafalski was Gizmo, Bergeron would be Stripe (let's see how many people get that movie reference). :teach:

Really there is all this talk about his limitations.... I mean yes he IS short - but he SURES HELL isn't small - he's very solid and with such a low center of gravity is hell to push around.

Some of the guys I play hockey with now are just coming out of the junior system, they like nothing better than to whack away at opposing players' expensive composite sticks. :joker: :yo:

damnit, doesn't that little bugger know how much those things cost?!? Just kidding, it was a smart move, but i hate it when guys go after your stick like a lumberjack. Its a shame to see a good stick go to waste after all the work you put into it :dunno:
