On the Hurricanes: They have played pretty well in all four of their games, they are simply not getting results. Guys are getting the opportunities, but the puck is not going in the net. Goaltender Kevin Weekes has picked up where he left of last season and has played stellar. He has given them a chance to win in each game. The defense was shaky at first, but seems to be coming together as a unit. Danny Markov is leading the way, and is really playing quite well. The forwards have been the weakness. The line of Vasicek-Brind'Amour-Cole was dominant in the first three games. Played very well as a line and was responsible for what little scoring the team produced. Francis and O'Neill have yet to show up in the box score. Same with young sniper Radim Vrbata and the electric Eric Staal. The lines for Carolina's last game were completely changed around. Francis and O'Neill were split up, the VBC line was split up, and Staal was playing with enforcers Jesse Boulerice and Joey Tetarenko. I think the lines will change again for the game in Pittsburgh. Hopefully back to where they were at in the first three. We'll probably see Jaroslav Svoboda back in the lineup, at the expense of either Boulerice or Tetarenko. All in all, the effort is there for the Hurricanes. It's only a matter of time until they pick it up.

As for the Penguins... Dan Focht is undergoing tests to see if he shows any symptoms of a concussion. That hit from behind was pretty nasty. As someone said in another thread, it was a bit scary to see Focht lying there out cold. I think Abid has earned his spot on the team for the time being. But I can't say the same for Milan Kraft. Has it been stated who will start for the Penguins? Who would you guys like to see in net? I think the lines have been playing pretty well. I'd like to see them stay as they are for now.

Nice work on these game threads Koltsov47.

Yeah, I must say, you put these up quickly. :)

I would bet that Fleury starts this one.

Didn't Eddie O say that if the goalie got the team points he started the next game?

Has the NHL recognised that Lemieux got an assist on Straka's goal? It would suck if they didn't and then Lemieux lost the Art Ross by one point.

Yes, Lemieux did end up getting that assist.

Lets hope the pens can win this game. This is a must win. They have to win against some of the better teams (Detroit), but they need to win a lot against weaker teams (Carolina). It should be a good game. Hopefully Pittsburgh comes out flying.

AEKaki 10-20-2003 01:39 PM

my prediction:
Pittsburgh wins 4-1
Koltsov scoring 2 goals. Lemieux and Fata adding the 2 others.

Koltsov71 10-20-2003 02:01 PM

I say Hurricanes win 4-2.

GoPenguins 10-20-2003 02:09 PM

It should be an interesting game - am hoping for another entertaining game - something like 4-3 Pens.

Hurricanes scorers: Vrbata (2), O'Neill
Pens scorers: Abid, Lemieux (2), Orpik :) (Did anyone else notice he got PP time vs. Detroit?)

DJ Spinoza 10-20-2003 03:07 PM

Fleury's first of many shutouts in his career. 3-0 Pens.

Malone (Power Play)

Fata with 2 assists.

Wingboy2999 10-20-2003 04:03 PM

3-2 Pens

I think Kolstov will pick an assist or two, if not a goal.

Koltsov71 10-20-2003 04:27 PM

Am I the only one that doesn't predict Penguins wins? :D

DJ Spinoza 10-20-2003 04:56 PM

I hardly do on the other board.

Yeah traitor... ;)

I'll go on a and predict a Fleury shutout too.
2-0. Mario with a goal. EN by Fata to finish off the work.
Fleury will be the first star of course.

Til the End of Time 10-21-2003 05:45 AM

Unfortunatly, I too think the Penguins will lose... 2-0

RedRumNJD 10-21-2003 04:35 PM

My last prediction was correct (3-0 loss to LA in opener). I hope this one isn't correct:

I think Fleury will have a bad game, and the Pens will lose 4-1.

Robert Paulson* 10-21-2003 04:45 PM

I think the Pens will win.. 3-2. Malone with the game winner within the 1st half of the 3rd. :)

Koltsov71 10-22-2003 04:55 AM

After taking a nasty spill into the boards on Monday, Jeff O'Neill is doubtful for tonight's game.

Koltsov71 10-22-2003 03:15 PM

Aleksey Morozov on the powerplay! Wooooo!

Assists go to Lemieux and Tarnstrom.

john g 10-22-2003 03:18 PM

1-0 after one period

Robert Paulson* 10-22-2003 03:20 PM

AWESOME goal. Weekes thought it went it, but it went off the post, right to Morozov who put it right in before Weekes saw it. Nice goal guys :)
