CuJo sent to the AHL....
Cujo Coming to Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday announced
that the Detroit Red Wings have assigned goaltender Curtis Joseph to
the American Hockey League team.
Joseph, 36, is expected to join Grand Rapids for Wednesday's and
Thursday's 10:30 a.m. practices at Van Andel Arena and be available
to play this Friday, Oct. 24 when the Griffins host the Utah
Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m.
The Keswick, Ontario, native has appeared in 767 NHL contests since
1989, posting a 380-279-87 record with a 2.76 goals against average
and 41 shutouts. He helped lead the Red Wings to the Central Division
title last season, going 34-19-6 with a 2.49 GAA and five shutouts.
OK, after all those years of top-flight 'tenders being a scarce commodity, the NHL is suddenly goalie-rich. If you told me two years ago that Irbe would be in the ECHL and CuJo in the AHL, I'd have asked what alternate dimension you were from.
