Star Gazing
  • Dallas is 69-6-6 when leading after the 1st Period since Dave Tippett took over as Stars head coach three seasons ago. Dallas is 17-1-1 this season.
  • Dave Tippett is 119-58-28-8 as the head coach of the Dallas Stars with the 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators Wednesday night.
  • With two goals againist the Predators, Dallas has now kept from being shut out in 69 consectutive games. Dallas's last shut out was againist Detroit in the 03-04 season on March 13th, in a 3-0 game. In the Stars 49 games this season, only three teams (Detroit 4-1, Phoenix 4-1, Minnesota 2-1) have kept the Stars from scoring atleast two goals in the game. This is the longest the team has gone without being shutout since they moved to Dallas in 1993. The previous mark was held by the inaugural 1993-94 Dallas Stars squad who were first shutout in their 38th contest of the season. The franchise mark for consecutive games from a start of a season without being shutout is held by the 1982-83 team who were shutout only once and that came in their 79th game.
  • The Dallas Stars are now 8-0 in shootouts this season, having beaten Colorado in Denver on Nov. 5 (2-0), the Sharks in San Jose on Nov. 12 (2-0), the Hurricanes on Dec. 2 (2-1) in Dallas, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Jan. 6 (2-1) in Dallas, the Boston Bruins on Jan. 14th (1-0) in Boston, the Blues on Jan. 25th (2-0) in Dallas, the Avalanche in Denver on Jan. 26th (2-1), and the Red Wings on Jan. 28th (3-2) in Dallas. Jussi Jokinen is eight for eight during the shootouts and Marty Turco is 13 of 16 in net for the Stars. Dallas is now one of only two teams to not lose in the shoot out, the other team is Los Angeles. Detroit lost their first shoot out againist the Stars.
  • When trailing after one period, the Stars are 10-10-1 on the season. And when trailing after two periods, the Stars are now 8-12-0 on the season. The 10 wins when trailing after 1 period is the best in the NHL this season and the 10 wins when trailing after 2 periods is also the best in the NHL this season. Dallas has won 21 games this season when falling behind some point during the game.
  • Dallas is 8-0-1 this season when scoring four goals, and 15-0-0 when allowing one goal. The Stars also have posted a 34-4-1 record this season when allowing three goals or less. Their record is the third best in the NHL.
  • The Stars will play a total of 15 back-to-back series in 2005-06. The Stars are currently 15-5-0 in games included in back-to-backs this season, including 8-2-0 in the second contest. The Stars came back to beat the Blues 4-3 last night and also came back to beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in Denver. The Stars are 7-3-0 in the first game while 8-2-0 in the second.
  • With the three shoot outs, the Stars competed in their first ever back-to-back-to-back shoot out games. The Stars have never lost a shoot out game in francise history, one of two teams in the NHL to still hold that accomplishment. Dallas competed in their fourth consectutive extra session game Monday vs the Sharks, another victory for the Stars. The four consectutive OT games is a francise record.
  • The Stars win on Monday was the team's 11th in the month of January, tying the franchise mark for victories in one month (the team has won 11 games in a month twice before December of 1998 and March of 2001).
  • The Stars are currently on a six game winning streak, the second this season. The Stars current six game winning streak is the second longest in francise history and the 2nd time in the past two months that the accomplishment has been done. The Francise record is a 7 game winning streak.
  • Marty Turco won his 28th game this season with the 2-1 win over Nashville on Wednesday. His 28 wins lead the NHL for goalies.

Star Gazing the..Blues
  • Dallas has currently won six consectutive games againist the Blues. The last time St.Louis beat Dallas was on November 22nd, 2003 in St.Louis with a 2-1 win.
  • In 2006, The Blues have complied a record of 3-9-3. Two of the three Blues win in the year of 2006 have come againist the Vancouver Canucks. The Blues snapped a 9 game winless streak on January 23rd againist Vancouver before two days later losing to Dallas.
  • St.Louis lost a 2 goal lead heading into the 3rd period againist Detroit, when the Red Wings struck fast and furious with three goals to put the Blues 3-2 on Wednesday night.

Stars99Lobo37 02-03-2006 11:30 PM

Niinimaa is still out as far as I've heard. He hasn't practiced with the team in quite some time.

...but Janne Niinimaa, who has missed the last six games with a sore ankle, was back at practice Friday morning.

Niinimaa, although listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury, took part in the full practice. He was skating hard and showed no ill effects from the sore ankle, which has kept him out of the lineup the past two weeks.
andrewssp ;)

Stars99Lobo37 02-04-2006 06:27 AM

I stand corrected. But he is still listed as questionable so. We'll see.

We need all the D men we can get right now though.

Turco is a sieve. St Louis wins.

Stars99Lobo37 02-04-2006 03:40 PM

They score. Just like that. Dallas TOTALLY dominates the OT period. They come abck and they score. St.Louis wins it and the 6 game winning streak is over.

Dallas now 2 points behind Detroit. Man. How the heck did we lose this.

FINAL
Your Dallas Stars: 3
The St.Louis Blues: 4

I hate when that happens. Stupid Jackman!!! Why didn't Zubov or Daley put it away. We had our chances. Unebelivable.

St Louis has beaten a few teams lately that probably said the same thing - how could we lose to a team with one good forward - Tkachuk? Sanford has played well in the games I have seen them win.

I've noticed Sanford has picked his game up big time over the past little while. That save he made on Arnott with like 5 secs. left in the third...I dont know if he makes that save earlier in the season. He has been a hot goalie recently.

Stars-Preds 02-04-2006 04:26 PM

Sanford played well but that is a game Dallas should not lose. The second period collaspe when we gave up two quick goals really hurt. And then dominating the OT only to have the Blues' first shot go in. We played a decent game but looks like we underestimated St. Louis.

Stars99Lobo37 02-04-2006 05:18 PM

I didn't think we play that well.

We had Boucher out. The Kap-Miets-Hagman line got benched during the 3rd for whatever reason (they were -2 before the 3rd). JN is still out.

Modano, for whatever reason, didn't seem himself today aside from that great pass to Juicy who passed it to Lehts for the tying goal.

Lehts has 2 penalties..I can't even remember the last time he got a penalty much less 2 in the same game.

We were on a 6 game losing streak and had played a ton of games in a short period of time. Im not that disappointed because we still have got a point, but once again. This is one of those games we lost that we should've won.
