Star Gazing
  • Dallas is 69-6-6 when leading after the 1st Period since Dave Tippett took over as Stars head coach three seasons ago. Dallas is 17-1-1 this season.
  • Dave Tippett is 119-58-28-9 as the head coach of the Dallas Stars with the 4-3 loss in overtime to the St.Louis Blues Saturday night.
  • With three goals againist the Blues, Dallas has now kept from being shut out in 70 consectutive games. Dallas's last shut out was againist Detroit in the 03-04 season on March 13th, in a 3-0 game. In the Stars 49 games this season, only three teams (Detroit 4-1, Phoenix 4-1, Minnesota 2-1) have kept the Stars from scoring atleast two goals in the game. This is the longest the team has gone without being shutout since they moved to Dallas in 1993. The previous mark was held by the inaugural 1993-94 Dallas Stars squad who were first shutout in their 38th contest of the season. The franchise mark for consecutive games from a start of a season without being shutout is held by the 1982-83 team who were shutout only once and that came in their 79th game.
  • The Dallas Stars are now 8-0 in shootouts this season, having beaten Colorado in Denver on Nov. 5 (2-0), the Sharks in San Jose on Nov. 12 (2-0), the Hurricanes on Dec. 2 (2-1) in Dallas, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Jan. 6 (2-1) in Dallas, the Boston Bruins on Jan. 14th (1-0) in Boston, the Blues on Jan. 25th (2-0) in Dallas, the Avalanche in Denver on Jan. 26th (2-1), and the Red Wings on Jan. 28th (3-2) in Dallas. Jussi Jokinen is eight for eight during the shootouts and Marty Turco is 13 of 16 in net for the Stars. Dallas is now one of only two teams to not lose in the shoot out, the other team is Los Angeles. Detroit lost their first shoot out againist the Stars.
  • When trailing after one period, the Stars are 10-10-2 on the season. And when trailing after two periods, the Stars are now 8-12-1 on the season. The 10 wins when trailing after 1 period is the best in the NHL this season and the 8 wins when trailing after 2 periods is also the best in the NHL this season. Dallas has won 21 games this season when falling behind some point during the game.
  • Dallas is 8-0-1 this season when scoring four goals, and 15-0-0 when allowing one goal. The Stars also have posted a 34-4-2 record this season when allowing three goals or less. Their record is the third best in the NHL.
  • The Stars will play a total of 15 back-to-back series in 2005-06. The Stars are currently 15-5-0 in games included in back-to-backs this season, including 8-2-0 in the second contest. The Stars came back to beat the Blues 4-3 last night and also came back to beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in Denver. The Stars are 7-3-0 in the first game while 8-2-0 in the second.
  • The Stars win on Monday was the team's 11th in the month of January, tying the franchise mark for victories in one month (the team has won 11 games in a month twice before December of 1998 and March of 2001).
  • Marty Turco won his 28th game this season with the 2-1 win over Nashville on Wednesday. His 28 wins lead the NHL for goalies.

Stars-Preds 02-04-2006 04:32 PM

Hopefully this game will have a few more scoring chances than Wednesday's. I will be at the game again and I'm excited to see two of the top teams in the West for the second time in five days.

Ok Nashville is now added to teams I really dislike.

I hope we play these guys in the playoffs. Ugh

Me = Mad

Stars99Lobo37 02-06-2006 08:33 PM

Ruutu15 02-06-2006 08:37 PM

Quite the PP game.
I hate this, but for these 2 physical teams you know it's gonna be all penalties, sucks.

Ruutu15 02-06-2006 08:41 PM

Win or lose
this is a ****ing joke of a game.
Just like the first tilt between the preds and the stars this season.

Vokoun has a vacuum of a glove, he is sick.

Stars99Lobo37 02-06-2006 09:16 PM

Stars99Lobo37 02-06-2006 09:27 PM

They score. Just liek that Nashville is right back in the game. 4-2 Dallas. Lord could they drop these pucks any faster.

Ruutu15 02-06-2006 09:40 PM

A W is a W,
well tied for first in the West, good times.

Stars99Lobo37 02-06-2006 09:43 PM

What a 3rd period.

Much better than recent games..OMG!! WE WIN A GAME BY 2 GOALS! ITS A MIRACLE! A shorty, 2 5 on 5 and a PP goal put this away for the Stars.

Key Stat: Dallas had more Powerplay Shots than Nashville had shots overall.

Once again, your FINAL score.
Your Dallas Stars: 4
The Nashville Predators: 2

Yeah that really is the key stat of the game. I thought you guys played a good game, but I was terribly disappointed in how the penalties were called. Everything we did was penalized, and we took several penalties that should have either went the other way/should not have been called at all. Still, we were in the game until Vokoun broke our back early in the third, and its not the Stars fault that they were getting all the power plays.

I hate to moan about penalties, so I will just say the Stars capitalized when they needed to win this game. I wish we could have seen more 5 on 5 play as the game was highly entertaining in the first before it was a Predator penalty fest...Until next year or the playoffs ;), have fun and good luck.

The Frugal Gourmet 02-06-2006 10:53 PM

I thought the first game between Dallas and Nashville had worse officiating, actually. I almost never get mad about officating, but I can only remember one game in the last 5 or 6 years that had me seething about the referees as badly.

Our announcer seems to think we're on a collision course with you guys in the playoffs.

Should be interesting. I think it would be fun. This has been one of the most frusterating games of the season...in terms of me get mad at the other team's play, which usually only happens during the playoffs.

Good luck to you guys and do us a favor... ...BEAT DETROIT!

Dallasman 02-07-2006 01:26 AM

Looking at the standing, I don't know how we can play Nashville. We're second and they are fourth...and I dont think they will tank anytime soon...Unless we play them in another round in the playoffs which I just thought about :D

Great see Guerin FINALLY score a goal. The guy has been trying and trying and trying and he is finally rewarded for all his work. Now do it some more and maybe your $6.8 million dollar contract will be worth it all.

Nashville always plays us tough. I really don't like when we play them but it appeared to be a good game tonight. I'm just glad we came out on top of it all.

Stars99Lobo37 02-07-2006 07:27 AM

Well technically we're first as we have more wins than Detroit, giving us the first tie breaker. Then we have the second tiebreaker also as we lead the season series 2-1-0. So I mean we would have to meet in the 2nd or 3rd round which I wouldn't doubt.

I would no question take Nashville over Vancouver in the 1st round which would be what would happen right now.
